Ticking sound with external Rode mic + sony ax53. Changes speed - like a leaky faucet. Def inside the circuit - not a mechanical sound from the environment. Not there with built-in mic. Suggestions?

Might be motor-boating. Used to be a fairly common fault with older less sophisticated circuitry. The cause could be anything from a fault in an interim power supply to stray feedback causing an oscillation with a low speed harmonic. Considering your description it could be the latter - impedance mismatch maybe, between the external mic and the amp input...

SOURCE: GM 3.8L engine ticking noise after intake gasket change.

check where the thermostat housing is, there is a plastic cross over to the other side of the intake. The intake cracks right there. Loss of coolant will cause overheating, plus if you look behind the alt. or remove it and start the engine, you will see where it is leaking, that`s if it is leaking to the outside. Most times it does. If that is not the problem, then with a blown head gasket you will have white smoke out the exhaust all the time, and the coolant level will of course go down. If it is the intake gasket, then you will have coolant in the oil, easy to see when you check the oil, creamy brownish colour and of course you will lose coolant and it will overheat also. Most likely since you said `white smoke water coming out around front of intake ticking noise is usually lifter noise. your engine is fine.(to a point) try changing your oil put in a thicker oil to prevent metal to metal contact. go for a 15/40 20/50. let it run for a while(few miles), if it doesn't stop buy an additive called "engine lucas", that will dilute your oil just enough to allow it to lubricate your lifters. also when your oil level drops or your oil becomes dirty your lifters will make that ticking noise.(the one that increases with engine speed)
a blown head gasket 99% of the time will cause your car to smoke either blue or white.

Sony Handycam ux10/ux20. Why isn't it recording audio?

sir,
please use an external microphone and test, if there any corrosion or dust inside the mic jack, it will cause to dis recording of audio, use some cleaner liquid in the jack, still the problem persist, must open the unit and check the audio circuit with test equipment like oscilloscope.

Leaky faucet

Need more info. Is it leaking in between the faucet and hose or the end of the faucet or around the handle of the faucet? If leaking between hose and faucet a little rubber washer will do the trick. If its the faucet it could be inside the faucet. You can buy a new one, or take it apart and take your parts to the local hardware store whom can assist you there. If its around the handle simply tighten screw ontop of handle.

The whole situation that you describe makes me believe that the Rode mic is ok. Please double check your cables, the connections and the settings at the mixer that you connect the Rode. Also make sure that the phantom power supply is enabled.

Rode NT2 got Phantom!

Well... Rode NT2's are condenser mic's that require phantom power to work. So the phantom switch should be on. When you turn phantom power on you usually hear a bump sound (through the amplifier). In this case, nothing is broken.
Your picture is of a Rode Videomic (not an NT2) which is a stereo mic for video cameras. If you had some kind of stereo mini to (single) XLR adaptor, and put phantom power through it, the mic would probably be damaged. But maybe not... just try again without phantom power to see. a stereo mic won't work very well with the Mbox Mini because it only has one mic preamp.
