I just bought a CASIO DV-220 dual calculator. I can't figure out how to set the decimal. Example: 565 to 5.65 I'm probably going to feel silly because I'm sure it's easy. I've been able to do this before but this is new.

Doubt you're still having this problem as its been months....figured id post for people who stumble across this from google.

Click on the shift button in the top left, then select the mode buttom (second from top right), then press the number 2. This should switch the calculator onto linear and will give you answers with decimal points.

SOURCE: Setting the default value of my calculator to display decimals

Hello,
Since you bent on deactivating the very features that make your calculator so versatile and so powerful, here it is.
Press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO] and you will see no more fractions, nor radicals etc. You asked for it.
Hope it helps.

Testimonial: "I bought the calculator because it was on sale and I like Casio calculators; not for its fractional abilities. I can easily switch it back now. Thanks"

SOURCE: how do i change the mode on my Casio fx-82au plus calculator?

Press SHIFT [MODE] to bring up the mode screen. Press 8 for NORM, then 2.
Bear in mind that if the magnitude of the number is too large or too small the calculator will switch to scientific notation anyway. For example, if a number has twenty leading zeros then it won't fit on the display unless it displays it as a power of ten to the negative twenty.

CASIO fx-9750GIII: Convert decimal answers to complex fractions?

Hi,

to save time, I would suggest switching calculators and also recommend using an online scientific calculator to reach your goal. If the manual for your device is bad, you can look into getting a new calculator. Thank you.

What does the 5/4 and F mean on the display screen?

F is for floating decimal. If you do a calculation, it will present the results without rounding. For example, 1/2 would be displayed as 0.5, whereas 1/8 would be displayed as 0.125.

The 5/4 rounds the results. For example, if the number of decimals is set to 0, 1/2 is 1. Similarly, if the number of decimals is set to 2, 1/8 is 1.3.

Good luck,

Paul

Casio fx-82ms calculator does not give me an answer when i use the percentage button . example if i type 0.25/ 100% i get 0.25 instead of the right answer 25

Here is a sample of the percentage calculations that the calculator can perform. You will not see among them the conversion from decimals to percentages.
To convert from decimals to percents move the decimal mark 2 places to the right and append the % sign.
To convert from percents to decimals, move the decimal mark 2 places to the left.

My calculator casio fx 350ES doesnt give me right anwser.this is the anwser from my calculator when i inter this numbers 220 000-100 000=120 (there should be 3 more zeros).it happens all the time when i...

Did you enter a dot as a separator for the thousands? If yes, this is the error. The calculator interprets all digits following the dot as fractions of decimals.
So you enter 220.000 meaning 220 thousand, your calculator gets it as 220 comma 0, and thats where your three zeros go...

To make it right, enter your numbers as 220000 - 100000 and you'll get 120000 as result.

I want to complete normal calculations. the default says it is set at D for angles in degrees or something I just want to balance my check book and everytime I put in the calculations I get a fraction for...

OK,do not worry. Press [2nd][MODE] to access tghe (SETUP) options. Then press 2 to select [2:LineIO]. from now on all your results will be displayed as decimal numbers. Do not pay attention to the D for degrees, if you are not doing angle calculations or trigonometry.

Another point. Since you only want to balance the checkbook, all your numbers have at most 2 decimal digits and it might be less tiresome for you if you configure your calculator to display just 2 figures after the decimal mark.

To do that
  1. Press [2nd][MODE].
  2. Enter 6 to select [6:FIX].
  3. Then enter 2.

Division

it took me a while to figure it out too but i found out how. Put in, for example, 3 divided by 2. You get 3/2. Then press the button right above DEL. (it says S<=>D) and it will convert the fraction to a decimal. To change the number of decimal places shown, push SHIFT then SETUP then 6 then a number from 1-9 and that is how many decimal places will be shown.
