Check the connection to the torch from the drive box ,could be shorting out ,jiggle the connection ,if that doesn't work it could be a bad connection in the trigger itself ,check the connection with a jumper wire from the trigger to the connector ,by passing the trigger , and hooking wire up to the pos.on the connector ,does it have a fuse reset on the panel ,check the fuse

SOURCE: MIG wire is always hot without pulling trigger

Check your manual, there are a lot of mig units on the market that are alway "Live" alternatively, the relay has either shorted or you have wirering problem on the switch.

SOURCE: mig welder powers up but only clicks when trigger is squeezed

1] Remove the power cable from the power. (socket on the wall) remove the top cover there should be a fuse located on the wiring panel.
2] perform all your house keping- like, all plugs and socket are tight, the correct contact tip with the the right wire size, roller/s are also the correct ones for the wire size and are turning if they are turning but not feeding the wire, then, the rollers need to be tightend , get back to us.

SOURCE: northern tool mig welder,120 volt with gas.The

This welder is made in China. I have one and it works fine. Parts and service are available from northern tool. 1-800 # is on the book. FYI this 135 gas no gas looks exactly like the Lincoln SP135 and Lincoln workmate 135. GOTO the lincoln site and bring up the manual. It is a free download and is a much better manual than the one it came with. I agree with the previous post. Put a continuity test on the 2 wires that come from the trigger. there is a wire diagram in the book that came with it. Hope this helps.

manual above.
Often this is caused by the Motor Driver, Electronics failing, you need to troubleshoot the PCB, Motor Drive circuit.
This is generally where you find the problem. Of course check ALL connections etc First too. Also Check out your switch too, sometimes they fail. Wire feed stoppages and wire feed system malfunctions can adversely affect the welding arc and create irregularities that may weaken the weld bead. Birdnesting, a tangle of wire that halts the wire from being fed, is a common problem. You can resolve birdnesting by flipping up the drive roll and pulling the wire back out of the gun. Next, trim the affected wire and re-thread it through the feeder and back to the gun. If the welding specifications allow, decrease the drive roll tension, use a larger diameter wire and/or reduce the distance the wire feeds (use shorter cables) to minimize the chance of birdnesting.
Burnback is also very common. It results when a weld forms in the contact tip, and usually occurs because of too slow of wire feed speeds and/or from holding the MIG gun too close to the base metal during welding. To correct burnback, increase the wire feed speed and lengthen the distance of the MIG gun from the workpiece (the nozzle should be no further than one-half inch from the metal). Replace burnback-damaged contact tips by removing the nozzle and the contact tip (which may be melted to the wire), snipping the wire, installing the new contact tip and replacing the nozzle with one that has the appropriate tip recess for the application.
Other causes of wire feeding problems include liner blockages, improperly trimmed liners (too short/burred/pinched) or the wrong size liner. To remedy these problems, replace any liner if you find a blockage, always trim the liner according to the manufacturer’s direction and be certain you are using the correct size liner for the welding wire diameter.

troubleshooting how to, fix the PCB if you need to.

I have a kende mig 105 gasless welder, but the wire isn't getting fed through on the feed wheel, tried different welding wire and also turned the wheel, tried tightening the wheel, slackening it as well,i

Here's a few things you can check:
When gun trigger is pulled, do the drive wheels turn? If they aren't, pull the trigger again; do you hear anything within the machine (contactors closing, gas solinouds opening, any clicking, etc.) that would indicate the trigger circuit is functional?
If the drive wheels are turning, but wire isn't being pushed thru the mig gun, check for proper drive roll vs. wire size. If that is correct, check gun liner for obstructions. Flux cored wire tends to stop up a wire liner fairly quickly.

Hi there,

That sounds like a direct short short to me. My mig has 1 nylon guide tube, one in front of the feed wheel and one just before it inters the liner. They are both insulating the drive wheel from the wire.If the teeth marks are deep enough they will act like a saw and cut right through the nylon tubes and short out on something. You may need a new liner ,the liner is carrying the current instead of the wire. That may be problem. Thank You for choosing FixYa.com

liner.jpg In addition to guiding the wire, the back end of the liner, shown here, contains o-rings and seals to ensure the shielding gas doesn't escape the gun cable.

My wire feed wheel on my lincon sp130 mig welder has ceased to turn. How do I trouble shoot if it is a burned out motor or something else?

Check the voltage at the wire feed motor while the trigger is pulled. If there's no voltage, it's pretty safe that it's not the drive motor.
Also, with the unit unplugged, check the big power (stud) diodes for shorts.
I had a wire feed motor stop because 2 of the big diodes were shorted.

My mig welder will no longer push the wire through. I have removed the wire but the drive wheel will not even turn. When I pull the trigger I can hear the load click as it normally does but nothing...

If you presure off the drive rolls so that there is no wire between them and that there is space between each of the rolls and the rolls still do not turn and you hear the drive roll relay activate then I would say that the drive roll motor might of burned up, which is not uncommen for a mig welder. almost any dealer can get a replacement motor for the make and model of the welder you have or at least a dealer for that brand will get it for you. Hope this Helps Don

Mig welder

Pull the shield off the end of the stinger, unscrew the brass tip off the end of the stinger, pull the trigger, just a second or two (to feed wire through. turning the tip, left and right, if it doesnt free from the wire, snip the wire and carefully file the damaged end and try to free it. If unsuccessful replace it with a new one. Not expensive.
