SOURCE: need to fix a broken moen kitchen faucet

I had the same problem with my Aberdeen single lever with a pull-out sprayer a few months back. If you are the original owner of the faucet, it's under warranty; you shouldn't have to pay for any parts. Call: 1-800-BUY-MOEN (1-800-289-6636) and tell Customer Service what the problem is. They will send you the Handle Mechanism Kit at no charge. (Mine was part #93980 for my Aberdeen faucet, but yours may be a different part number.) It's tricky to take apart and get back together but my husband and I have zero plumbing experience and got it all fixed in about 20 minutes. The Moen.com website also has exploded parts diagrams of all their faucets so you can identify exactly what part you need, and they have some little videos and slideshows to show how to replace parts. If you can't reach Customer Service on the phone, you can go to "Contact Us" on their website and email them a description of your problem.

SOURCE: need to replace cartridge in single lever moen

Turn off water

Remove the handle with an allen wrench, usually 1/8".

Unscrew the dome with a pair of channel lock pliers with a rag to prevent scratching.

Wiggle out the old cartridge with the channel lock pliers.

Clean all innards with WD-40.

Reverse procedure

How to fix leaky American Standard single faucet kitchen sink

The A-S single lever kitch faucet is terrible. If it is the one I think it is, then it has three screws that mount the cartridge down into the faucet body.If these are not torqued perfectly evenly, the faucet leaks. I suggest getting a Moen to replace it.

LEAKS. HAVE GASKET KIT. BUT CAN'T GET IT APART!!

MOEN ARE NOTORIOUSLY difficult to get appart. There is a "Special tool" just for Moen faucets/tubs/showers. It is like an old "Brake drum puller" or "Faucet handle puller". I think about $10 to $12 at Home Depot or Lowes. FYI Moen and Delta both give "FREE PARTS" on "MOST" faucets for many years if not life, if your not in a hurry. Check your original paperwork for warranty. The washer at the end of the valve after being installed for more than a year, usually binds up and gets torn apart when removed. It makes it VERY difficult to remove, even with the "Special tool". They (Moen) give you a plastic wrench like thing that almost never works, with the purchase of a "New valve" DELTA800-345-3358 ..MOEN-800-289-6636

The faucet drips and I cant figure out how to make it quit.

It can be repaired without taking entire valve out of wall. First shut water off and remove handle. Next you will see a collar that will screw off to remove the cartridge below is a link for a single handle moen faucet. Check it out to get an idea. If you know your model you can research on line ,but they are close enough to give you an idea.
Once appart replace washers or o -ring's. Pay attention to how you take it appart for easy reinstallation.

How to insert bearing washer on moen single handle kitchen faucet

Hi,
I have the exact same problem! The gray plastic washer has popped out from between the plate and the brass groove below the washer! I can't for the life of me get it back under there. Because it's sitting too high, the handle doesn't fit and the metal plate is loose.
Please help!

I have a Moen kitchen faucet with a leak.

By "leak in the stem" I assume you mean you're getting water in the cabinet below the faucet. High likelihood is it's the hose - either loose where it connects to the faucet or the sprayer. You can pull it out and check to be sure it's tight at the sprayer. To check the faucet end, you'll need to be under the cabinet with a light. If you don't find one of those connections loose, it's likely one or the other is leaking, due to a hose defect or washer (or missing washer).
The only way to see that is to turn the faucet on full (cold) with the sprayer pulled out and look for a leak in the hose behind the sprayer. If not there, leave the water running (may need another person to hold the sprayer) and inspect under the cabinet with your light for a leak either in the hose or at the connection to the faucet. If the problem is the hose or one of the nuts, it's an easy deal to buy a replacement hose - Home Depot stocks Moen.

Moen - Single lever bath tub faucet - cold water only

moen does not have a ball and washers....sounds like a Delta maybe. Moen uses cartridges. Either way sounds like a balancing spool problem....but you will need to make sure of the right name for the faucet to get the parts.

Can't tighten single handle moehn kitchen faucet

there is supposed to be a nut with a washer under the sink in the center, the metal plate is just for decoration, the nut and washer have to be installed before the sprayer is attached the stem that it connects to has threads on it for the nut your faucet should have came with a long socket made of plastic to install the nut

Trying to get the handle off a single handle moen kitchen faucet

Hi adelinette,

Pry the cover off the top of the faucet with a little screwdriver. Under the cover you will find an allen head screw. Sometimes a little upward pressure with a screwdriver will help. Unscrew it and start disassemblying. Pay attention to part location as you take the faucet apart. you will be replacing a stem and not a washer when you get into it.

Good Luck and please rate this response, Phil
