If it's a wireless one: The battery pack may have a broken power cable inside the guitar or the power switch could be faulty. If it's a minor fault like that and the shop won't replace it then it is definitely worth opening up to check for obvious faults.

Pairing guitar to reciver
There should be a little black button on the front of the reciever that you push and then turn on the guitar with the on/off switch on the bottom of the guitar. If this doesn't work, try pressing the button on the reciever several times while the guitar is still on. That should work.

is your guitar plugged in?
if its wireless youll have to click the link button on the back or side of the guitar. this is a power saving mode.
