The main control board is probably damaged. Home owners policy may help pay for it.

If it is a GE unit it will be costly ($180.00) Other wise more like $90.00. Better than buying a new unit though.

Hotpoint ctx18ea fridge not cooling

Kimberley, try this:

First see any sign of ice build up in the freezer.

1. Switch off power from wall outlet.
2. Open the fridge door and freezer door and keep them open for atleast 5-6 hours. Salvage whatever food you can.
3. You may now see a puddle of water under the fridge. Clean the floor and inside of the fridge if water and other fluids visible .
4. Now re-connect power and set the recommended settings- usually at 4. Close doors.
5. Your fridge will be making a humming sound. Let it begin to cool.
Good luck

Freezer working but no cool in Fridge/No Ice making

This is one of the common problem throughout the world. It's because of not going through User Manual before using the fridge.

To get better cooling, dispensing water, ice cubes from your refrigerator, please follow the steps.
1. Keep temp setting between 3 degree and 5 degree Centigrade.
2. Ensure, freezer door and mail door of Refrigerator are closed properly.
3. Check freezer fan is working. If struck by frosting behind the freezer, you have to defrost it.
4. Defrost cycling is not functioning properly. Because your set temp is less than 3 degree or in minus.
5. Auto defrost cycle not activated due to thermostat, timer, heater malfunction.
First, locate the defrost timer which may hiddenbehind corners of the fridge at the back bottom, in some models located in theceiling of the fresh food section or behind the cold control cover. Once youlocate the defrost timer, slowly turn the screw in the middle of the defrosttimer with straight screwdriver until the fridge shuts off. Now it's indefrost. If the defrost heater(s) starts, replace the defrost timer and defrostthermostat. If the heater(s) does not start, unplug wire cord to check ohm testfor continuity of heater. If continuity is there, plug cord wire which givespower 120volts (check specification) to heater. If heater no starts, bypassdefrost thermostat by join the 2 wires in the defrost thermostat. If the heaternow comes on, replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. If the heateritself is bad, replace it
6. Check water line to make ice are not tint or remove kinks in water source line in the back of refrigerator to increase water pressure.
7. Check solenoid valve in the rear side of refrigerator back is activated.
8. If solenoid activated,no water flow means, have to clean solenoid valve.
9. Check shut off arm is not struck due to over ice stores in the ice bucket. Remove it.

Hi i have a RSA1WTMH1/XEU fridge freezer side by side, it just stopped working on both freezer and fridge the fans are still going theres no ice build up on fans coils are clean. I did a reset and still...

Sounds as if you may have had a lightning strike in the area last night maybe, and the power to the house waqs not just interrupted, but was actually giving you low voltage! Enough voltage to turn the fans but not enough to run the refridgerant compressor. Very common. This is why they say to unplug your fridge when it is stormy or lightning outside. Low voltage power surges will do that. Best to have an expert or electrician come to see what the issue really is! Good luck with it!

American fridge/freezer - fridge stopped cooling, freezer side ok

Have you pulled out the refrigerator and cleaned or used a vacum cleaner to get out the dirt and dust off the back of the coils, or if the coils are underneath, you need to get an inexpensive appliance brush for fridge, and clean the coils under the fridge, pull off the panel on the front bottom of the fridge, get a flash light and look to see if the coils are covered in dust....may just need to vacum and use appliance brush underneath...this should be done at least one a year, you will notice your fridge running much better and cooling back to normal.......hope this helps......

Frigidaire side-by-side stopped working

I would chech the components on the compressor. Take the cover off the compressor power terminals and inspect the relay for damage. The power outage is not a concern but the power surge could definately be the cause. hope this helps.
