I've pluged my KSB560 blender working on 110V using step down converter 220/110V in Europe but something didn't work and probably capacitor burned (yellowish/orange disc) - some sparks went out from the bottom and all the fuses in the house went down.
The data on the disc is on one side (not sure all of the letters):

I wrote to Kitchen Aid support but they seem to don't care because I don't have any respond since 2 weeks now.
Does anybody know if it actually capacitor and wthat should I look for for replacement
Someday people will learn that MANY of the stepdown convertors are useful ONLY for hairdriers and devices WITHOUT electronics. ONLY use convertors with a big transformer in them for electronic devices. Yes, they are expensive, but so are repairs. Now on to your problem:
The device was probably an MOV varistor transient suppressor.
Trace the circuit out and if it is across the input lines, try one of the same MOV's you find in the surge plug strips.
If the device blew apaart, there is likely further damage. You may be able to get a whole board from an appliance repair company.
Do testing of the unit with a 150 wat lamp in series with the power line.

Hey man, i had the same problem you had. my mom plugged it at 220...I opened it, unwelded the blew up MOV and welded a new one. My kitchen aid now works perfectly :) Of course i've checked all the other components with the tester ;-)

It is a surge protection device (MOV). It has a max working voltage of 150VAC. It is designed to blow up between 212 and 259 VAC. You probably plugged in you blender into 220VAC.

thaks for the info what this disc is - it is excactly acros the input lines. You've made me worried that probably other sruff went down. Still, how can I figure what varistor should I use. Now I'm in Europe and there are mostly 220V. Should I ask friends to send me 110V varistor from US or it doesn't matter.
About whole board to buy I already wrote 2 times to kitchen aid customer support but no respond. I found some e-stor with this part but they aks 151 - I bought whole blender for $99 so...
