You need to replace both the Y and X-sustain boards to light the tv. If the voltage is fine from the power supply then those are the only other boards related to lighting the plasma gas.

Either X,Y, or Z-boards seem to have developed a problem, when this happens it results in a 'sound-no-picture' condition. If its under warranty take it back, if not have your local tv repair center fix it for you....

Your TV is going to need a Z-Sustain PCB.

The Z-Sustain controls the contrast of the image, it is also a common part to fail.

Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.

Hi , I recently had the same problem which I was determined to fix . So I did a few weeks of research to find that it was the Y SUS board which burns out. I'm sure you realized that the TV gets hot. Personally I think this is why. circuit boards don't like heat and I've learned that the cooling fans are a joke. I replaced the board and got my picture back. I proved the fan theory because after the screen started to act up. I placed a cooling fan near the vent holes on top and the problem cleared right up,It also helps if you lower the brightness which helps out on the heat situation.I will soon be adding a fan with a temp. sensor. This shoud help if your screen has lines when you initially turn the cool TV on.then I have Some other costless solutions. This problem can be a bad YSUS or bad ZSUS and I recommend replacing both. The part #s are 6871QYH039B and 6871QZH044C. These parts can be found at Andrews or Vance Baldwin.
