what is the danger? and could it possibly be that we have had fires here in california?
or possibly a electrical outlet issue?
I dont have money or ability for a tech because I am disabled and can not lift this machine to move it.
It goes away after I restart it or on its own but only at certain temps such as 74 or 76 ish but then it runs fine at other times with no issue I have it plugged into a power bar for refridgerators and washing machines but let me add there are no other things plugged into this bar I was advised to do this when I got it as the utlet is very VERY far away from the window.
Im totally freaking out now that you say its very dangerous. please advise me of the danger. will it blow up?

Danby dpac120068 blue light flashing with error code E04 and the compressor keeps turning off randomly. What is causing this? What does E04 mean? I have had the unit for nearly 2 years and I have never seen this error. I am told I need to "take it to a tech." the hoses are very close to the window about 2 feet away there not too long, the light just comes on and goes away it makes no sense. I cant haul it off to be serviced or checked thats to general a answer. I want specific reasons why e04 shows up.

  • Anonymous Sep 05, 2009

This was a very general answer, no definition to the specific ER04 code other than
take it to a tech comment and its dangerous and I called danby and they said there is not a danger from a er04 code that I can do troubleshooting on my own making sure water is empty hoses etc. this tech didnt know what he/she was speaking about and did not want to take the time to do things correctly in that, he didnt look up anything other than a general ER04 code which would apply for a washing machine, not a air conditioner.
WHAT am I paying for this for?

Hi,

E04 refers to Overheating. There might be plenty of reasons. You might have seen, if you shut down the ac for few minutes and again start it, It would work for few minutes and the same E04 display is there.

This is tech's job. I am sorry, i am not discouraging you but it requires certain testing that actually what makes ac overheated.

This is dangerous. So, better to call a tech and get it checked!!

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

These are electrical equipments. In order to check, you need to investigate and you need to open the conditioner. Most important you need to have equipments to check Voltage and you should be aware of the danger.

This error is Not due to NATURAL DISASTERS. This is basically a fault in the system. Lets take an example - A long vent tube might result in this error in portable a/c's. It's only an example.

I hope i could help you better.

    Thanks.

Getting the room down to temp....

Danby Consumer help line: 800-263-2629 This is the best I can do for this product line having no information. From my knowledge and experience working with refrigeration and air conditioning there are a few things you should check. Check the voltage being supplied to the unit to insure it is with-in 10% of the name plate specifications. Check the air intake and exhaust hoses for good air flow and that the exhaust is not being recirculated into the intake. I suspect that your problem may be due to the compressor possibly overheating and tripping the internal overload protector. These take time to reset.

E04 message

Lisa, E04 is an error code which shows that one or both of the reels has stopped during play or record operation. We find that tapes with liquid contamination can stick to internal parts in the mechanism causing this error. Try another tape, if this does not resolve the problem something is defective in the tape transport. Good Luck to you! Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
