ICE MAKER NOT WORKING Kenmore cold Spot model# 106.55536400
I have a Kenmore 2 door refrigertor that has an Ice maker problem. The water does not fill the ice maker tray, but water does come out of the water dispenser. I did check the ice collection overflow light and it seems to work correctly (block it and light blinks, unblock and light is steady.) Would like your help to try and repair this unit if possible.
Respectfully,
David

If you're getting water from the water dispenser, but no water is coming into the ice maker, then you need to change the water valves. These are located on an assembly at the bottom of the rear of the refrigerator. You'll probably have to take a cardboard cover off the back to access everything under the refrigerator. After you do, just look at where the main water line comes in. It supplies the two electrically operated valves which open and close on demand for the "in the door" water dispenser, and also the ice maker. I just bought one for a Kenmore today and it was barely over $60 at the local appliance parts supply store. Sorry. Be sure to unplug the refrigerator and turn off the water supply before beginning this job.Sorry. Be sure to unplug the refrigerator and turn off the water supply before beginning this job.

Can you locate your model number inside the fresh food section around door frame? I believe you have the ice maker with the electronic eye and sounds like you need to follow these instructions so the ice maker works again. If I am wrong then please correct me by posting your model number that should look like this example=> 321.234567 Click Here=> Whirlpool Ice Maker Infrared Electronic Eye Technical Information I am here if you need to ask questions, Sea Breeze
hi,please remove ice maker see if an ice is jamming it up first...second on the freezer ,when you open it up...is there a switch on the wall..that is a infrared for the icemaker,,if so switch it off...remove ice maker...check it first....if its ok...possible problem with sensor...check these things,,,is filter ok...is water coming out of door,dispenser...then filter ok....good luck call if need assistance,,,michael,,doctor airr appl.repair..843-384-8474...
The water control valve for the ice maker side is your most likely reason. If filling ice maker with tap water and allowing to freeze. If it dumps then the water control should fill. if not the valve is not working. Sea Breeze
depends on the problem. 1st what is the freezer temperature by the ice maker? Is it filling with water? Does the water freeze solid? I fthe temp is below say 12'f and its filling with water a replacement kit of just the head of the icemaker should fix you up. Some kits though have instructions you need to read befroe proceeding., Some of the instructions may not be clear so read them where you buy the replacement and ask questions there as to what to look for.
If this helped you pleaese rate me as much as you can. If it did not help you please restate your question so I may give more detail to communicate to you better. Thank you and good luck.
Sounds like a water valve problem to me. Force the ice maker to cycle. (turn it off and let it get cold for at least an hour then turn it back on). Test for voltage on the ice maker side of the valve. The valve is usually in the back near the floor. Just follow the water line. Another solution. switch the wires on the water valve. then try the water dispenser and see if it makes the ice maker fill up. See if when the ice maker cycles water comes out the door. If the ice maker causes water in the door , replace the valve, If door switch causes ice maker to fill up replace ice maker again.
Most common problem is a broken ice maker module. Should also replace ice maker thermostat when changing the module. Make sure fill tube isn't frozen first. If you take the ice maker out pull off the plastic cover and in the center of the wheel that kind of looks like a gear there are two little plastic studs. If one is broke or they are pressed together then the module is bad. Make sure to replace the thermostat along with some silicone grease because a bad thermostat is what causes the module to break.
