PCI Simple Communications Controller

Hi there, could you please help...My motherboard is a GA-7VT600 With Socket_A and I keep on getting the yellow question mark next to the PCI Simple Communications Controller under SCSI and RAID Controllers. I can't seem to find a driver for it to fix the problem.

AND: I've connected a UPS and it works ok, but the software is not picking up the UPS. I am of the opinion that it could be due tot the above problem.

Please v=could you help with a solution or driver update.

Thank you and kind regards,

Heidi

Hi, I have a solution. If you go in device manager, click on the pci simple communications controller, go in property and then go in details. You will see a code like per example PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS...

The VEN code means vendor and the DEV code means device: in my case the vendor is 8086 and the device is 27D8.

Once you have the two codes, go to www.pcidatabase.com. Enter the two codes and you should get the name of your
hardware. From there you can search for a driver download for your hardware.

In my case the pci simple communications controller was a Microsoft UAA Bus HD audio. I also had another pci
device that didn't work properly, using the same method I found out that my pci device was an HSF PCI internal modem with code number CX11252-11. I had a hard time downloading one of the drivers, after 6 or 7 times the download started so be patient if you have the same hardware
.
NOTE: to access the device manager, go in control panel, then performance and maintenance, system, hardware and finally device manager.

Hopefully this helps you, good luck.

It could also be a scsi or raid device. Just becausne it says communication device doesn't mean its a modem. I installed a serial card and before loading the drivers, I got the same reading in device manager under other devices, " PCI Simple Communications Controller".

It sounds like you need a modem driver, what i would suggest is either going to the computer makers website and looking up the specific model of computer you have to find the drivers for that unit, if listed just try to locate the modem driver for the unit you have, if you have several to choose from you may need to look into the unit itself to identify the type of modem you have so that you can choose the proper driver you need.

right click and click on update
even if you have no disk or internet
let the wizard find the drivers automatically
should be preinstalled with your OS XP
