My washing machine quit working. It will not spin or drain and makes a noise when it tries to agitate (it doesn't actually agitate, but moves slightly). We replaced the pump but that did not solve the problem. Any ideas? Thank you!
The problem sounds like the motor to transmission coupler. If it is not draining or spinning you may find that the lid switch is inop.
In my case, a nylon sock got sucked into the drain pump. I removed it and everything works.
There is two little plastic fingers connected by a rubber washer that connects moter to transmission plastic finger broke from overloaded washer

It sounds like the motor needs to be replaced, you can drain the water by taking the drain hose from the drain and lowering down water will drain.

My daughter was helping with laundry and forgot to shut the lid. The water filled up and didnt finish the cycle since the lid was still open. Now we cant get the cycle to start or to empty the remaining water.

I have replaced the motor coupling, the old one did not look stripped. When I tested on spin it makes a very loud grinding noise same as before I tried the coupling. hints?
