Had my LG for 2 yrs now and a few weeks ago the picture would pop and then go black - alslo no sound. I couldn't change inputs - nothing. Can't see anything on the screen or hear sound but the power is on. For fear that it wouldn't turn back on, I would never power it off. I just changed the input. Left the tv on for 2 weeks and it did it's final pop and there is absolutely no picture or sound. I've un-plugged it for several days, tried turning it off and on and plugging cable in directly to tv instead of through DVR box. It seems like a part is bad. The power is only (green light blinks 16 times to turn on) however no picture or sound - just a black screen. Any suggestions?
Well dont keep it on!
By running it after it shutdown and it finally did its last pop that added another $XX to the parts bill.
The control boards (2) have now failed There are burned Capacitors ( pop!) and possibly even a few transistors burned out. This is not a DIY it is a Tech job as once changed these boards require additional tuning of the convergence factor.
Yes i Understand I have a sanyo 62" that is 35 years old and is still a lovely TV with lots of bells and whistles not on modern TV's
We live in a throw away society now and things are not meant to last, its all about turnover, the $ and of course greed.
Many of the Boxy old TV's will work forever almost even into full digital with a set top box and outive tv's that are rolling off the assembly lines in Korea and China today.

The lights indicate what the issue is. Kind of like your check engine light in your car tells you something is wrong with the engine.

The tv is 2 yrs old! I have old tube TV's that are older than I am (30) that still work! To pay $1500 and have a tv work for 2 yrs and break is fricken ridiculous!
