SOURCE: JVC car audio cd receiver model # KDR-310 will not stay powered up. Shuts down after 2 seconds. What's wrong??

hi marnie, if all the power and speaker cables are connected correctly, then you might have a faulty or shorted speaker in the vehicle.your unit is sensing a fault condition. check the impedance of eack speaker connected to the unit from the harness plug. if this does not help then your unit needs to be bench tested.

Will any jvc wiring harness work on a jd-dv5000 cd player?

No, not any one, theres probly a few that will, but it might not have the same features as your model. like if your cd player has a pop out screen and in order for it to work the car cannot be in drive, there is a saftey wire that you would have to connect to something. if you got the wrong harness, that wire wouldnt be there.

CD DOESN'T STAY

What error are you receiving? Usually you will receive an error code when something like that happens. aka "NO DISK" "DISK ERROR #"

Try this: Hold down "select" while holding down the "attention" button for more than 2 seconds. This should reset your cd player.

Might fix your issue.

Here's your manual.

CD Player

I'm currently having the same problem. Take the face plate off. Use a pin to reset the stereo. It'll probably stop working again, but at least you'll be able to get your cd out and take it somewhere to have the stereo fixed or replace. (STAY AWAY FROM JVC!)
