GE Refrigerator cools correctly (i.e. Compressor and evaporator fan run) for about 12 hours. Then the evaporator fan stops running in the freezer. I unplugged the refrigerator for 15 minutes and plugged it back in. The freezer/frig works correctly for about 12 hours (i.e. when the compressor is on the evaporator fan runs and temperatures are cold in both compartments). After 12 hours the compressor runs but not the evaporator fan. After about 14 hours I removed the panel in the freezer and there was frost on the evaporator coils, not on the evaporator fan/motor. I can turn the temperature control to zero and then back up to 5 (0-9) and once again when the compressor runs and the evaporator fan will run (about 12 hours). I can perform this operation at any time and it will operate correctly for about 12 hours. This is a GE Profile side-by-side PSS26LSRF SS about 3 years old
I believe that because defrost is done by the mother control board this is why this is happening the part of the board that controls defrost is malfunctioning and the only way to resolve the problem is to replace the mother board part number WR55X10656 You can find the replacement board at these places below.
