Unmodded Xbox. Downloaded update from XBL. System retarted but would not boot, system powers up with solid green light, no audio, no video, and the controller just flashed green. After 20 minutes in this condition I got the TROD (3 red lights) for th efirst time ever. The system is out warranty. I performed the X-clamp repair and I am now back to the original problem (no audio, no video, flashing controller, and solid green light on XBOX).
The G.P.U has more than likely detached from the main board.
the x clamp mod is more of a diagnostic procedures than an actual repair function. The G.P.U will need to be re-flowed to
the main board then lightly but firmly clamp to the board
then stress tested (force it to run hot for 15 min shut off and
repeat 3 times)
3 red lights on the Xbox 360 is the most common error and it means "General Hardware failure". To fix this you need to stop the amount of heat that the GPU and the CPU is taking.
To do this you can use the recommended guide that has been on the market for 3 years or you can send it in.
Try checking the switch on your AV cable (xbox end) After the Xclamp fix we got green light and sound but no video.... check the switch and it had been accidentally moved to HDTV when our TV is an old analog one. flipped the switch... and bingo we got Xbox again. :o) Hope this helpsTry checking the switch on your AV cable (xbox end) After the Xclamp fix we got green light and sound but no video.... check the switch and it had been accidentally moved to HDTV when our TV is an old analog one. flipped the switch... and bingo we got Xbox again. :o) Hope this helps

It could be the cache that's causing it but, I'm betting on the disk itself has gone bad on you, had the same issue my copy would load them freeze even after clearing the xbox360 cache. Here's how to clear the cache.
The Xbox 360 system cache stores such items as game updates, system update installation packages, and gamer pictures of your friends. You can often resolve issues with your Xbox 360 by clearing the system cache.
The following are not removed when you clear the Xbox 360 cache:
Your gamertag
Content that you have downloaded
Game files
Console software updates.
Clearing the cache removes previously downloaded game updates. You must download these updates again the next time you play the game.
To clear the system cache
Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and selectSystem Settings.
Select Storage or Memory.
Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)
Select Clear System Cache.
When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.
Cause that game needs a new dash.Check what dash you are currently on by going to system settings and system info you will see the kernel there .it most likely is an old version so download this one( http;//download.digiex.net/Consoles/Xbox360/Dashboards/2.0.16747.0.zip)
1.) Unrar the download (i use winzip)
2.) Copy the $SystemUpdate folder to the root of a pc formatted USB Stick (The memory stick must be FAT or Fat32 formatted)
3.)With that extracted folder now on your USB, Insert the USB Stick into your Xbox 360 console.
4.) You will be automatically prompted to update with a USB stick. Power down the 360 and power it on again. You should be ask to update before the 360 boots to the dashboard.Click yes and wait for it to install then shut down.
5.) Once the update is complete your Xbox 360 will restart then boot up to the new dashboard.
All Xbox 360 system updates should update automatically when you power on your system or notify you of game/app updates upon selection of said game/app. First make sure your Xbox is connected to the internet and that it is working properly by running the network setup found in the guide menu. After running the setup and everything checks out restart your Xbox and see if an update message appears. If not there are 2 possibilities, 1 your Xbox is already up to date and no action is required and 2 you may have an update error that the following link should be able to help you perform a manual update. In the case of the 2nd possibility you should recieve an error message stating that an available update was unable to be applied/downloaded. http://xbox-games.yoexpert.com/xbox-games-general/how-to-fix-an-xbox-360-update-error-256.html.
The XBOX360 requires a update file for each XBOX game to play on it. Not all games are supported. If your XBOX360 is connected to the internet it will automatically check for an update when a XBOX game is inserted. If your XBOX360 is not connected to the internet then you can burn a DVD or CD rom from a computer with the update files and insert the disc into the XBOX360 and update the files. Or you can load then to a USB jump drive and plug the jump drive to the USB port on the XBOX360 and update from that. The details are available from here http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/console/systemupdates.htm
And remember not all XBOX games will play on the XBOX360. Only ones with updated files. So if it does not play after the file update then it is not supported. Microsoft updates these files quarterly so check back once a month for more updates.
it was a bad idea modding your xbox because in order to do so they have to remove a special chip or rewire so the chip is skipped.this chip stopped your h77 turner lap from over heating which is what has happened causing it to leak.you need a new UNMODDED xbox oh and whatch that liquid it,s highly acidic
1. Turn XBOX360 on 2. Press the sync on the XBOX360, green lights swirl 3. Hold the center xbox logo button on the controller, lights swirl 4. Release the xbox logo button on the controller then press the sync on the controller Good luck
no red lights, no previous error msgs, and video output on the box has just died. playing halo yesterday and mid-game the colours went askew (like a green overlay) with horizontal banding, backing out to the dash solved nothing so after a reboot there was simply no video. troubleshooted the tv and cables and its definately the box. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=625804 Over heating wont turn on http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=599216 http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=606431 http://copronymous.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/fix-for-the-3rlod.pdf
