Kitchenaid stainless bottom freezer unit - upper right side in frig has a blue ''bypass cap'' that says save for future use - this has been steadily leaking for the past 2 months. Have tried turning off and unplugging to try to defrost for a whole day, but it started to leak again right away. Fills a large roaster pan in 2 days with the water. The ''expert'' answer was bogus and did not help at all. I cannot find the right manual in the lists. I really need some REAL help. Model KBRP20K

The bypass your talking about is for the water filter if the o-ring on the bypass is bad it will leak also will leak if not fully twisted on defrosting has nothing to do with the fix to stop this until a repair can be made shut off the water to the refrig until a filter can be purchased to replace the bypass yes you'll be out of water/ice until it can be repair but beats filling a roaster pan full

Why freezer is set in upper part of refrigerator

Because cold air is heavier than warmer air, and since the freezer actually cools the refrigerator, it is more effective to place on the top.

Can't get blue bypass cap off to put water filter

are you sure what you're turning is a bypass cap? KitchenAids don't usually have bypass caps.
If it is a bypass cap though, make sure you're turning to the left. It could be tougher because it's under pressure, so turn the water off going to the fridge and run the water out the dispenser if there is any.

Where do I hook up the water line, on the right bottom of freezer

there should be a water valve with a 1/4 compression male connection on it in plain sight. If it is not there, I could only venture a guess that someone has removed it. Was this a new frig? On the picture I see it has a dispenser in the door so I know it should have come with a valve. I doubt you are missing this though. ALL of the frigs I have seen, it is at the very bottom right if you are looking at the back of the frig.

The refrigerator side is not cooling though the freezer section is working.

Check in the frig side upper left at the top. The frig has to be running. There are air vents that bring the air to the frig side. If you dont feel any air this is what could be the problems with that:
Freezer fan not running
vent is closed
vent is iced up
evaporator is iced up
try to determine which one of these it is or not...
let me know and we will go from there
hope this helps

Replace door on Kitchenaid bottom freezer 2 top door model

Switch from white to red wines and drink at room temperature, or buy a new single door cooler that suits your fancy. The bolts may line up because of a single door model that shares the same chassis, but the cost and trouble of getting a matching door may not be worth the trouble.

Automatic water dispenser not working/bypass valve leaking alot

Dear Rodeo mary,
Before you do anything else, please first defrost the fridge. Yes, turn it off and leave it open for a couple of hours until all the ice in all compartments has melted. Clean it and put it on again. Is it ok ? Please let me know.
