Automatic ice maker makes ice cubes, but the doesn't dispense ice cubes or crushed ice. However, it does dispense ice water. Ice cubes usually end up as a frozen glob of ice. I usually have to pull out the ice cube bin and melt the ice bubes in the sink.
About two weeks ago had a repairman out and he replaced some parts to the tune of $225. It worked fine for about a week and, then, the same problem returned. Today, he came back and said that there's too much water coming into the ice maker which is causing it to make larger ice cubes than the ice crusher can handle and and it needs a new part. However, he wouldn't say that that would correct the problem.
My wife and I are thinking of buying a new refrigerator, but my brother suggested that, before we do, I post our problem on this web site to see if someone out there can recommend a corrective course of action.
If you could observe exactly where the water is dripping from it would help but...If it overfills and drips, look for an
adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water.
If it continuously drips, replace the water
inlet valve on the back where the house water supply comes in.
The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the
water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and
block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to
see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
