The freezer side is getting cool but not freezing. I replaced the fan in the back of the freezer under the coils. I cleaned and checked all the coils to make sure they weren't the problem. The new fan doesn't come on and run either at any time. It feels cool to the touch on the sides toward the bottom of the freezer and the coils in the back are icing up but the freezer isn't freezing.

Whirlpool GS6NHAXVK refrigerator not freezing , just cool.

There are a few possible reasons why your Whirlpool GS6NHAXVK refrigerator's freezer is not freezing, but just cooling. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the temperature settings: Ensure that the temperature settings are set to the appropriate level. The recommended temperature for the freezer is between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to -15 degrees Celsius).
  2. Check the freezer fan: The freezer fan is responsible for circulating cold air throughout the freezer. If it's not working, then the air won't circulate properly, and your freezer won't freeze. You can check if the fan is working by opening the freezer door and listening for the fan sound. If it's not working, you may need to replace it.
  3. Check the defrost system: If the defrost system isn't working correctly, then ice can build up on the evaporator coils, blocking the flow of cold air. You can check the defrost system by removing the back panel inside the freezer and looking for any ice buildup. If there is a lot of ice buildup, you may need to replace the defrost thermostat, defrost timer, or defrost heater.
  4. Check the condenser fan: The condenser fan is responsible for drawing air across the condenser coils to remove heat from the refrigerator. If it's not working correctly, the refrigerator will not be able to remove heat, and the freezer will not be able to freeze. You can check the condenser fan by removing the back panel and looking for any obstructions. If the fan is not running, you may need to replace it.
  5. Check the compressor: The compressor is responsible for compressing the refrigerant, which cools the air in the refrigerator. If it's not working correctly, then the refrigerator won't be able to cool properly. You can check the compressor by listening for a humming sound coming from the back of the refrigerator. If you don't hear anything, or if the sound is abnormal, you may need to replace the compressor.
If none of these troubleshooting steps work, it's best to call a professional appliance repair technician to diagnose and fix the issue.

GE DL213908 Side by Side Refrigerator not freezing or cooling properly

It doesn't cool
  1. Condenser coils
Make sure you dust off the condenser coils to prevent dust build up and overheating due to it overworking. Simply unplug and use a long coil cleaning brush to get rid of debris.
  1. Check seals
If your refrigerator door seal is broken, warm air is pushing its way inside the unit, thus causing it to not cool properly. Prevent this from happening by replacing your seal and keeping the cool air inside.
  1. Temperature controls
Ensure that your thermostat is set correctly, usually 38-40 degrees Fahrenheit.
  1. Defective condenser fan
When this fan is defective, cold air is prevented from flowing through the vents. It may require replacement.
  1. Compressor issues
Check if there are clicking sounds coming from the compressor as it tries to start. If there is a clicking, it is one of only two options, either the start capacitor or a bad compressor. A start capacitor is fairly inexpensive whereas a sealed system repair on the compressor is very expensive and often not cost effective. Refrigerator Repair Help Troubleshooting and Parts

Why doesn't my Frigidaire FRT21TNG freeze or cool fresh section?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRT21TNG, is not freezing or cooling. I also see that the coils are not freezing, the drain line and everything cleaned, and that the capacitor was replaced. From this point, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. They will be able to diagnose your appliance and determine why it will not cool as it should. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Fridge section not cooling enough but freezer OK

Is the fan blowing in the freezer section? Also, check to see if you have airflow thru the damper (vent) in the frig section.

Freezer and fridge cooling but freezer not freezing and fridge not cold enough

Hello,
Their are a couple things that could be causing that.

The conderser coils under the kickplate below the doors is clogged with dust. Remove the kickplate and check/clean using a refrigerator coil brush that could be purchased from your local hardware store (Lowe's HomeDepot Ace hardware)

The condenser fan motor behind the refrig., behind the lower service plate directly next to the compressor isn't running and needs to be replaced.

Good luck,i hope this helps you to get your refrig back to cold,

The compressor and fan run but the refrigerator and freezer compartment do not cool down to an adequate temperature. The freezer does not get below freezing (32F) and the fridge does not get below 55F

Check your compressor for over heat (put your hand on it without burning)
Check for ice on back wall of freezer and on the freezer coils (defrost problem)
Check cond fan in back of fridge.
Clean cond coils

Freezer doesn't freeze Food is thawing in the freezer

if the compressor and freezer fan are on and not getting cold, check the condenser coils under the fridge. clean them out with a vacuum. if they can't release heat, the freezer won't cool. also check the fan in the back. replace it if it is not running. if the inside coils are frozen up, there is no air flow. defrost them and check the fan. otherwise you have a freon leak.

Not cooling properly

Let it defrost for awhile. Hook it back up, After on for a bit, check the fan under the fridge to see if it works. Also is there any air blowing inside the fridge and freezer. If not then the cooling fan has gone bad. Thats easy to replace. If none of the above then eather the compressor is going out but doubtful being there is ice on the back. But the freon could be low.

Motor runs, freezer defrosting and fridge won't cool

If you have frozen coil at the back of the freezer section, then the defrost thermostat is usually failing. Allow the fridge to defrost completely overnight. If the fridge restarts cooling immediately after defrost, then the problem was the defrost system. In that case the fridge will stop cooling again in a couple of days, as soon as the evaporator coils restart freezing and the condenser goes under stress with the whole cooling system loosing efficiency.
