Why does Simplicity Sunstar turn over but not catch?

Simplicity Sunstar 20 hp hydro, with 60" mower deck. It turns over but won't catch. Plenty of gas. pto switch is off. foot firmly on brake pedals. seat switch had been disabled by previous owner. this lawn tractor has run fine before for us. it has a Kohler Magnum 20 motor, 2 cylinders. When I turn the key, something is turning but it doesn't sound like the tractor does normally. Any ideas? Thanks. -J

If it's a Briggs motor its possibility the little electric solenoid on the very bottom of the carburetor isnt opening when the key is turned. Put a spoonful of gas in the plug hole Nd if it catches then dies then it's a fuel related problem

    it's a Kohler Magnum 20 motor, 2 cylinders

Do the same for that engine also. If it starts then fuel delivery is the problem

Remove fuel line and see if there’s flow. Sounds like a fuel issue. Also check spark.

Testimonial: "Replaced fuel filter. The carb side was bone dry and the tank side had gas. Still no start but I may need to dribble a little gas into the intake to get it to start to catch."

There is another safety switch connected to the parking/service brake. Check that one too. Sounds like its the one.

SOURCE: simplicity sunstar 20hp rear pto won't engage deck

your electric clutch may need adjustment. Take the hood off. Look behind the double pulley that's on the crank shaft. Behind the pulley is an electric clutch. You will need a .010-.015 feeler gage and check between the clutch plates. You will tighten the three screws that mount the clutch to the motor. Try and get as close to .010" as you can. After adjustment start the motor and try and engage the pto. I bet it will work.

Good luck

SOURCE: My simplicity Coronet Hydro 13 lawn tractor loses

The fluid in the transmission is a multigrade oil. sometimes you can change the oil by removing the transmission partially or entirely and change the oil to a heavier grade like 15W40 or 20W50, the transmission has a vent mechanism on top that is where the oil would be extracted or drained from and then refilled, the level at full cold is 1" to 1 1/4" below the bottom edge of the inside of the vent pipe or plug boss. some of these had a flat vent plug, some have a hose with the vent in the end attached at a nipple and still some older units had a reservoir like on the larger tractors. The reason your trans is slowing is due to wear in the hydraulic pump face.

I am looking for a detailed wiring diagram for a Simplicity zero turn mower model #2691318. Thanks

you might try Simplicity customer service. There are many image files on the web for Simplicity Zero Trun mowers, even 42 inch ones. The problem is that they are not organized by the mower model. https://www.partstree.com/models/2691318-00-simplicity-courier-42-zero-turn-mower-23-gross-hp-briggs-stratton/

Mower deck slows and stops when I turn my Simplicity riding mower to the left,

HI,

The simplicity has a a two point mounting system for the deck. It attaches to the front axle which has two runners that go to the front axle's rear support bracket.

Closely check the runners near where the pins that hold the mower deck. They are known for cracking and breakage. Secondly, closely check the decks metal center support bracket, it bolts to the center of the deck and supports the idler pulleys as well as the deck alignment and mounting. Those, too, are known to crack near the front just behind the front pulley.

I have white zero turn 54" lawn mower. The engine runs but the blades won't turn on. Please any advise will help

This is a belt adjustment problem. You machines belt has either broken, or is loose to the point where it won't engage the blades at all, or has just slipped off the pulley. I believe the belts are on top of the deck covered by removable covers that are bolted to the deck. Check and see. GOOD LUCK.
