Most generally the waveguide cover just snaps into holes or slots and uses no screws. Some ovens use plastic rivets to hold the cover in place.

SOURCE: Door outer plastic plate slide down an inch from the top

You would probably need a service manual, for which you can contact LG at 1-800-243-0000 or http://us.lgservice.com

Or locate a local servicer:
http://us.lgservice.com/gcsc/b2c/hpi/main

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

The original part was # 32554383, but parts for Toshiba microwaves generally became unavailable many years ago.

Some places to try would be eBay or Martin Microwave.

Sorry to bear bad news. Good luck.

SOURCE: Microwave oven part fallen off.

There are nylon push-in fasteners that snap into place. If there is a shop that works on microwaves, they will generally have them. Over time these fasteners get brittle and crumble away. Another option is to use nylon screws, if you can find some the right size. I don't recommend metal screws as they may arc in the cooking cavity. Using the microwave without the cover will result in spattered food getting into areas that can't be cleaned.

Try facing the rear of the oven and slide the cover towards you.

Problem

This is the waveguide cover and it should not be broken. You have to replace it.

GE Profile XL 1800

It's a little more complicated than Leo2 suggested but the general concept is correct. *NOTE: Turn off power to the microwave first before servicing it!
At the top of the microwave there are three screws.
Remove the three screws and slowly pull down from the top to get the plastic airvent out of your way.
You will notice a plastic vent with two screws. Remove the forward screw and then pull from the top of the vent to access the rear screw. Now you have access to a metal plate above the fan assembly. Remove the screws at the leading edge to lift up the plate. You don't need to remove it, just lift it up!
Now you have access to the metal box over the lightbulb. Squeeze the box and the box with the light bulb inside come out as one unit. You'll know you have the correct bulb as it is attached to two white wires. Remove the bulb. Should be a halogen 120-130 volt with 35 watt brightness. Remember, halogen bulbs should never be handled with your bare hands. The grease from your fingertips heats up and the bulb burns out prematurely. Always handle these bulbs with rubber or cloth gloves. They are expensive little sucks ($7.79 at Home Depot) so handle them with care!
Good Luck ...

Replace Blub GE Microwave oven Model 1540

On my Spacemaker, access for bulb replacement is on the top of the chassis, which is under the top/side cover. From a diagram I looked at, it appears that yours is similar. If so, you have to:

1. UNPLUG the microwave and then remove the three retaining screws that you'll find on shelf or cabinet above the microwave. Get help; the front of the microwave will be heavy when the screws come loose from the top.

2. Rotate the front of the microwave down a little and lift the rear up about a half-inch. At this point, it is free from the rear mounting plate. Set the microwave on a suitable work surface.

3. Remove the top/side cover piece. To do this, remove all the small screws on the top, the back, and the bottom edges on each side. Then slide cover back about an inch and lift it off.

4. In the middle section of the top of the chassis, you'll then see a cover above the location of the bulb. Lift it up to get access to the bulb.

It's a lame design for an over-the-range unit, but that's the way it is.

Here's a link to a diagram of what it looks like after you get the cover off: http://www.partselect.com/MultiModels.aspx?ModelNum=jvm1640sj&searchTerm=img_00115013i05&RefineSearch=0&imgMfg=GE

Where is the light bulb located?

Unscrew the vent at the top of the microwave(2 phillips head screws)
inside to the right you'll see another screw holding a metal panel. Unscrew this and take the panel off and you'll see the bulb, which will unscrew counter-clockwise
