Tag watch second hand skips

My time is accurate but instead of ticking every second, the second hand ticks every 5 seconds. Any way to fix it? Is it as simple as a new battery? Thanks, Dave

Same problem - less than one year old :(

Just happened to my wife today - I moved the minute hand around and then set the time and the second hand now ticks normally - if it continues to be a problem, I'll get the battery changed....thanks for the tip.

Yes it's the battery. Please make sure to take it to someone QUALIFIED This watch requires that all the gaskets be replaced and pressure tested at the time you have the battery replaced

Instruction manual

If the second is ticking as normally it is not the battery. If the battery is low the second hand will advance only at 5 second intervals meaning for four seconds the second does not move and on the 5th second it will advance by five seconds. This is a feature unique to Tag Heuer.

MINUTE HAND TICKING EVERY 4 SECONDS INSTEAD OF EVERY SECOND

If its a quatz movement - could it be that your battery needs replacing? This is a feature of my Tag 6000 so I assume yours is the same.

The hour and minute hand are sliding around the face of watch every time I move my arm. The second hand is still moving correctly. Thanks.

It appears that the hands are loose an need to be by an experienced watchmaker.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

Second hand skips

This is warning: it's time to change the battery. Your watch is fitted with EOL (end of life) feature and this is how the low battery power is displayed. However, the watch will keep running correctly for about two weeks.

Seconds hand starts ticking then stops

Your band may be too loose. This is the model that moves when worn correct?

Second hand doesn't move for each second

Your TAG is fitted with EOL (end of life) feature. This is the cause of that 4 seconds interval movement of seconds hand and thus indicating the time for battery replacement. The timekeeping is not affected by this- it is just warning to replace battery a.s.a.p.
Find your nearest watchmaker and ask for battery replacement.

The seconds hand ticks at 4 secs a time

Don't whatever you do allow the watch to be sent to Tag, as they are very likely to state that the watch needs a service at a cost of £125 after having your watch for 8 weeks (they charge £40 for a new battery which is bad enough) . This they do all the time and seems a bit if a scam. They state that the internals need cleaning by their specialists. Lets just think about this. A hermetically sealed watch to 200 meters has got dirty inside! They said this to me and so I asked for the watch back. They had removed the back of the watch, so I had a look inside and in the intervening weeks the run down battery had corroded. Luckily the terminals are gold and resistant, so I replaced the insulating disk which had corroded with a disc of thin plastic from a water bottle label and bought a battery for £1.36 and all has been dandy ever since. If you are concerned to do the same, an independent watch specialist will change the battery and repressurise for between £25-35
