Trying to hook up a Dell XPS 600 and I can not get the speakers to emit any sound. The sound drivers are installed, and the computer reads the sound levels when something is playing. Plugging in headphones into the monitor and the desktop does not produce any results. I have a DVI-D to DVI-D connection for the monitor. The green audio cord from the monitor is plugged into the SPEAKER input on the desktop. After looking at some images online, it seems that my audio and mic inputs on the back of the desktop are different from the standard model. Instead of having green and pink inputs on the back of the desktop, there is a piece of black plastic. Under the DVI-D input is a seperate sound card that has a black SPEAKER input and MIC input.

You can't use both speaker output and MIC input at the same time. Use only the green one for listening to sound either by headphone or by speaker. And the pink one for recording

And this is how the speaker looks like at the back. Just hook up the green connector at the green jack. hook up the plug for your speaker you are all set.

Dell studio xps no sound will come out of the speakers

I assume you mean the internal speakers.

First thing I would try is hooking up a set of headphones. If you can hear sounds thru the headphones then there could be an issue with the headphone jack. (the jack acts like a switch, switching OFF the speakers when you have a plug inside, and switching them back ON when you remove the plug).

If you dont hear sounds thru the headset or speakers, check your device manager, and remove/reinstall your audio driver. You can download the driver at the dell website Support.Dell.com.

My microphone not working on my dell xps 420 vista system

double click on the speaker and make sure that the mic does not have the mute box with an x in it.

I am pretty certain you have a card in your computer for it mentions a 7.1 speaker system.
If you put your service code in to do a search for drivers you will get the correct ones for your particular machine. Download install and reboot.
If you are not using six speakers and one sub woofer then the pink one in the back is the mic

Hello!
im affraid to answer your question because in most cases you will rate me " thanks for trying" it hurt me but it's ok because i want to help you.

First install the driver of your "sound blaster X-Fi extreme audio notebook card" the Utility cd is enclosed in it. after that Hook your speaker to the output of the newly installed card. and then go to control panel , double click the "sounds and audio devices" and then in the "audio tab" and in sound playbak. select the device according to your sound card.

You can adjust some setting there and click ok.

may this solve your problem.
