Ice Maker stopped making Water Whirlpool model (ed5phexnq00)

The same valve that the water comes from except there are two halves to the valve. The valve you need is a=> Whirlpool Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve WPW10312696 The problem is with these models the ice maker tends to function a little causing you to believe it is OK when they are worn out. I can point you to a manual to see if the water valve works by going to page 18 HERE and use a jumper wire between test point L and the letter V. Make sure the wire is insulated so you don't get shocked. Otherwise the ice maker may need to be changed and it is less expensive than the water control valve Ice Maker=> HERE

The noise is probably ice dropping into the pan and the normal ice maker and water valve sounds associated with making ice. Most Whirlpool models have a slide cover to "turn off" the ice maker - closing this cover fools the control into thinking the bin is full. Your owner's manual should provide greater detail on this option.

Lets try this because I need the model nuber first befor giving the complete solution. Pour water into Ice maker tray turn on and let freeze. If Ice drops into ice bin and water does not come on the the dual water cotrol valve. If ice maker does nothing it wil be you ice maker or the grees F. Go to sears.com, select "Parts Direct", enter model number and wait for unit to be displayed, find ice maker part number and price.

OK there could be several things to cause that. The dual water control valve is defective. Ice blocking the fill tube leading to the ice maker. Thermostat inside the ice maker. When the ice maker stopped what position was it in? Let me know and I will help you. Sea Breeze

There are 2 clips that hold the Ice plus on. 1 top left, and 1 on the right side.
Slightly pull up on the front of each clip and remove the controller. most likely behind this you will find a gear that is broken and may fall out of the unit. As usual you can not buy just the gear. Contact Whirlpool for the replacement gear assembly.

check if there is ice in the ice maker, see if there is water coming in to the ice maker. maybe a water problem or a solenoid problem...if there is no ice in the ice maker...try to pour manually a cup of water on the ice maker and empty the ice bin so that you can observe if the ice maker is working if there would be ice in the bin after an hour. if there is ice, then a water problem is most likely to look at. i hope the freezer is working perfectly..
