You probably have a week slave cylinder that actuates the Hydraulic clutch and it is time to replace it!

Check with either Andrews or Baker Gears to see if they make a 3rd gear that you want. I'm assuming that you want to change the ratio of third gear.

I don't know what you mean by "a drop out" but to gain access to the the gears, you must remove the shifter cam on top of the transmission, remove the cluch and everything on the left side of the bike, then you can pull the transmission "trap door" with the mainshaft and countershaft with gears out as a unit.

On a Big Twin, you can remove the geartrain from the transmission case without having to remove the gearcase from the engine. Basically, the "guts" come out of the case.

You'll have to disconnect the battery, remove the clutch and all other inner primary gear, remove the exhaust pipes, drain the oil from the transmission. Remove the top cover of the transmission, remove the shifter cam mechanism, remove the "trap door endplate" of the right side of the transmission along with the gear.

A service manual is recommended if you plan on doing this job yourself.

lp or natural gas sounds like moisture in the line look for a trap should look like a tee with a cap on it turn off gas and remove cap and see if any moisture in line replace cap and turn on gas check for leaks with soapy water and a small brush if not moisture it could also be air in line if so it will bleed itself out in a little while and work normally
