I agree with charging the battery all the way..But you could have moved your sim card..Make sure it completely in the slot. Also turning off the phone and power it back up.If that don't work go to settings and mobile networks and check if you on a mobile network
It probably needs to be charged more that is all. It usually needs a good 8 hours to fully charge. Even with new battery it needs to charge before using.
SOURCE: searching for base
My long-term experience with these phones is that occasionally, they get themselves into some kind of weird state: this is usually indicated by the flashing "searching" message.
In all cases it's been cured by unplugging the power supply AND the phone-line (both simultaneously) from the base, waiting a few seconds, then re-connecting. Normally this sorts things out, but will require you to re-set time& date (the base can sometimes still derive power from the incoming 50v line). Batteries out of handsets is a last (addtional) resort. I've very rarely had to re-register.

I can send you a manual. Just email me on [email protected]
The 15 digit number shoudl be on a sticker on the bottom of the base unit.
SOURCE: bt graphite handset states out of range but is on base
Hi,
the manaul states that by resetting the phone should solve this. In my case removing the batteries from the handset for a couple of seconds seemed to work just fine.

SOURCE: ADDING HANDSET SAYS OUT OF RANGE
A search of Uniden support only said to call 1-800-297-1023 with handset registration issues. The rep picked up quickly and walked me through the reset procedure. Here it is step-by-step:
1. Remove battery
2. Hold down the * and # buttons and reinsert battery. You should hear a long beep. If not retry. (This is a bit awkward but hold the handset upside down and it's workable)
3. Screen will be blank. Immediately press the right soft menu button.
4. Screen will report that EEPROM is clearing and then state EEPROM Clear Ok
5. Remove battery (yes again)
6. Reinsert battery (this time there's no need to hold down any buttons)
7. Handset will reboot with Welcome screen and then state that phone must be registered (this is the status a handset should be in from the factory)
8. Place handset on base and it will register as normal
