Greenjeans, pull the dryer out and look behind it at the top panel. You'll see 6 screws, 3 in the panel, 3 going into the cabinet. Remove the 3 that go in the cabinet. Then slide the whole top panel back (away from the control panel) about an inch or so then lift it. Replacement is the opposite of removal.

Sorry, meant to add, if you switch the machine off at the mains once you've cleaned out the filter (bottom right corener, front of the machine, behind a plate), leave it for 2 or 3 hours and plug in again, sometimes it works.
Mine worked again the first three times, but I think this time it's had it and it's engineer and pcb time.

Many are held in place only by spring clips and can be removed by strong fingernails or a dull knife pushed into the **** of the cover and lifted.

bloody hell! All the ones I have used (IBM, Compaq and Dell) have clear access to the battery!
That sounds very frustrating!
My Solution, drop kick it out the window if you have to replace another!
SOURCE: Eureka model 4335 - belt removal (top cover)
loosen two screws on either side on top of the housing lifts off the top. exposing the roller and the broken belt.
