When engaging the 4 by 4 handle on a jeep cherekee year 2002 a clanging noise appears when you are moving it sounds like a loose cog or something like that any suggestions would be appreciated

Thank you for your reply. I am having the draft shaft belt changed so I hope this resolve the problems. Thanks again

Check front drivesaht for any excess play. If noise is inside the transfer case, it likely has an internal failure.

Not exactly sure of what a draft shaft belt is (no such animal) but, if a good shop is doing the work, likely you may have misunderstood them, but they are doing the right thing.
Good luck!

You have to put it in neutral with the engine running and vehicle stopped to disengage and engage the 4wd.

This sounds like all checks have been done, the oil is fine and the linkage is good, soory to say your trany is in need of a rebuild, sounds like in internal leak or weak pump, i would have a trany shop check it but i can tell you there going to say it news rebuilding. good luck.

Clanging noise when first started then quits sounds like something hitting flywheel

May be the Starter bendix not retracting. That would require starter repair or replacement. Repair before flywheel is damaged.

That don't sound good. If you shut the engine off and restart it, is the grinding noise still there? If you engaged it with wheels spinning there's a good possibility the you broke something inside trans or transfer. If you did that with engine idling, I find it hard to believe anything would break. As far as it not moving it could be something as simple as the brake pads are frozen to the rotors (cold weather). I guess it's possible you have the transfer case jammed somehow, but that doesn't explain the grinding noise in the trans. The park pawl is in the transmission, so when the trans is in park the only thing turning is the input shaft and maybe a clutch drum or two. The output shaft should be held still by the park pawl. If you have a push button on the dash to engage the 4X4, that means it's done with an electric motor, it's possible that motor failed. You could try pushing the vehicle by hand a little maybe you jar it loose.
I guess I'm not much help, sorry.

On my 2000 blazer. every time i hit the gas pedal i here a clanging noise, and if i hit the breaks hard i here the same clanging noise. what could this be??

Sounds like something loose is swinging with the stop and go momentum. Look underneath for something loose, like exhaust. Have someone listen close by while you drive it slow in forward and reverse, to try to pin point it.
