The motor starting circuit is failing. Confirm this by giving the drum a push start when it hums. Most likely, the centrifugal switch on the motor is sticking (due to lint buildup) or broken. It has a mechanical component that operates an electrical switch. Check the mechanical operation, then check the switch. Also, check that the motor electrical connector is seated completely.
HI.When you turn ON your microwave, can you hear if motor is rotating? If you cant hear an ything from the motor..If you can check the terminal button of your oven. You can actually remove both sides of the oven and try to locate the terminal connection if it is engaged properly.Check also the motor.the motor might not be rotating or defective..Thank you for choosing FIXYA>>
OPEN THE DOOR/PUSH THE START SWITCH ON DRYER/THEN PUSH THE DOOR SWITCH/HAVE A PERSON TURN THE DRUM/IF IT STARTS TO TURN (DRUM) OR STILL HUMS AND DRUM WILL NOT TURN YOU HAVE A BAD MOTOR/REPLACE MOTOR.
The slight hum you are hearing is the start windings in the motor. This is a common problem in the kenmore dryers and there is nothing you could have done to keep it from happening. the part number on the motor is 279827 and price from sears is $105.99.
Sounds like the belt that turns the drum has broken. the hum sound is the motor turning. Does it still get hot in the drum? If so then you need a replacement belt ($15-$25).You can open the rear or the dryer to confirm the belt is broken. Be sure to unplug from the wall outlet to avoid electrical shock.
Hi, If you release the start button, does the hum stop? It sounds like hte start winding in the motor is bad. You can try and start it manualy by truning the timer on, open the door so that you can turn the drum with your hand. You will need anoth person there so that one of you can hold the door switch button in and the other push the start button. While pushing the start button, try turning the tub and see if it starts. This will give you an idea on the motor bad or not.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need any more assistance.
i get this all the time, yes it is the motor, what happens is the motor gets so weak that it will no longer turn the drum it just hums,a motor on ebay runs about $65,your model number if you want to tackle it is inside the dryer door-mike
This is a A.C. hum that you are hearing. this is a warning sign. You are experiencing motor failure. the actual windings inside of the motor are losing their potential to hold an even current due to breakage. the shutdown is a safety feature built in the control panel to prevent electrical spark/fire.
