SOURCE: Changing Smeg SA280X/1 fan motor, shaft nut stuck?

Most fan blades are held on by a single nut, which is usualy a left hand thread, so to unscrew it you turn it clockwise as though you are tightening it up.and to tighten it,anticlockwise..
If the spindle turns, then you will have to hold it with a pair of grips or similar.
Plz rate my solution.
Thabks.

I have an Edgestar AP 420HS and I need to replace the horizontal hamster wheel type exhaust fan that is rattling badly. I removed all screws and still can not remove the back of the unit. Two screws required a 7 inch long hex screw driver. Please post any information that may be helpful.

Delonghi Pac-C110 air conditioner The compressor is overheating and shutting down but works fine when running. There is a slight squeaky noise when running that seems to come from the squirrel cage...

The overheating & squeaking may be a result of a blockage in the exhaust hose. Or the exhaust hose has to much of a downward slope. Also, try cleaning the air intake filter. It may be clogged.

38CKC060 Carrier. Outdoor unit-fan does not spin, noise and very hot inside the cage!

It sounds like your fan motor is burnt up. If the noise you are hearing is coming from the motor itself, then it's going to have to be replaced. One way to check this also is to turn the unit off and try to turn the fan blades by hand, if you cant get to it, then use something skinny and long enough to drop through the opening on top. If there is any resistance, than its difinitly a bad motor. If the noise you are hearing is coming from the compressor, then your fan motor still might have a chance and only needs a capacitor which is a round or oval part inside the units electrical compartment. Depending on how mechanically inclined you are, it is possible to fix these yourself. Just a warning though, if your fan hasn't been running and the compressor has, it can or could burn up the compressor also. This is another reason why it can be hot inside the cage. Your compressor will go into internal lockout if it gets to hot and will not come back on until it cools, but it can only handle so much. Hope this points you in the right direction and good luck!

Whirlpool portable AC, compressor works, but no exhaust fan

there are 3 possiblities
  1. something obstructing the lower fan motor (or exhaust motor)
  2. bad fan capacitor
  3. or bad motor
to check any of these you will need to disassemble the unit to get to the blower. there are several screws located at various points on the plastic housing covering the unit. Once removed you should be able to check for motor obstructions visually. for checking the motor and capacitor you will need a volt/ohm meter and ideally a capacitor checker. you could try to spin start the motor while it is powered up this could be a possible sign of a bad capacitor if it will start when you do this or if the motor will spin freely while powered down and will not spin start when powered up. I know that is kind of confusing but its how they work. GO FIGURE.  thanks Peyton

Cannot eject or turn off power on my pioneer deh-p8600mp

when you take the unit out of your car and looking at the top of the unit there are two black screws. Remove those then remove the entire cd player cage by the 4 CHROME screws on the four corners of the cage the two in the front are in the two holes in the ver front (**use magnetic screw driver for this**) then disconect the two wire plug and the ribbon cable from the bottom of the cd player cage **BE GENTLE** there are two black tabs on either side of the ribbon cable. THEY ONLY MOVE ABOUT 1/8TH ON AN INCH using a jewler flat blade screw driver gently slide the clip out to un crimp the ribbon cable then once the cage is removed you can open the face. To open the face there is a white gear wheel on the rightn hand side of the unit you can rotate it with your thumb with a little effort. Rotate accordingly..... at that point you shouldnt have any problem but let my know if you do..
