I have tried for 3 hours powering on the plasma and it will click off and then a picture would momentarily show on plasma screen and stay powered on for a few hours. What board or component could be causing this issue
Sounds like a High Voltage Leak Relay is Clicking......You are going to need a Trained Tech.....A fire hazard and electrical shock hazard exist so be careful............

I wish to tell the world about the simple cheap fix for your plasma! . Please let me know if I helped. I have a 50" Plasma that deicded after a year it didn't want to turn on anymore. It just blinked red LED. Which made me see red! It took me a year to find this inexpesive fix I hope this information will be helpful to you.... These are spendy items and none of us were thinking that after a year (seems like a scam to me) the TV just won't turn on anymore.... Then they say your no longer covered under warranty or you are and they send you to some repair shop 1-2 hours away and always and I mean always tells you the part is on back order.
Lukster is right it is a power supply problem. However you don't need a new board nor do you need to pay someone a ridiculouse abount of money to fix this. I fixed mine for 40 cents.
You more than likey have bad capacitors.
Unplug the TV from power. Remove the back cover. (some models require a star srewdriver) You power supply board is right in the center. A bad cap is bulgded or raised. A good one is flat. caps have an X on the top of them. More than likely you will see a bulding or just straight raised edges on the X on the top of the caps. Cap 3300uf 10v is the ones you are looking for. Once you find them replace them with 3300uf 16v caps. If one cap is not raised replace it anyway. These caps need to be a higher voltage that why the tend to pop. 16V is plenty, don't go any higher in voltage than that.
The caps need to be soldered on. You have 2 options do it yourself or unplug all the wire harness from the board then unscrew the board take your power board (dont forget your new caps) down to a pc repair or tv repair and have them solder them on for you. It will take less than 10 minutes. I do recommend putting the board in an anti static bag. You can buy these caps at radio shack or buy them on ebay.
After you get it repaired replace your board plug all power supply wire harness back onto the board (I recommend numbering the wires as you remove them), replace the back panel cover. Plug her in and fire her up. and BAM it works. then turn it on and off a few times in complete amazement at how simple and inexspensive this was to do. Then get angry cause your repeated calls to tech support was wasted breath.

Hello,
Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics’ and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
