if upper thread is breaking
1. needle in backward
2.upper tension to tight-check manual for proper setting
3.needle maybe bent-try rolling needle on flat surface to see if it's bent & if so replace
4.thread may hang on bobbin case-check area for lent or fragments of old threads
5. knotty or cheap thread-always use good quality thread
if lower thread is breaking
1.the most probable cause of lower thread breaking is an inproperly wound bobbin

Missing tension spring screw?

You quickest and easiest fix is to buy a new bobbin case because screws are hard to find. A new bobbin case should cost less than $20 and any sewing machine dealer should have one.

HELP ASAP!

The bobbin case is in the wrong position to lock into the shuttle holder.Try instead of holding the the release lever of the bobbin case open, instead position the bobbin case finger to the up position and insert the bobbin case by pushing it in with your thumb. You should feel or hear it snap into position. You may have to rotate it slightly to get the finger in the proper position.
