Then what...? You don't like the way it works...? or unusual...? Old fridge always noisy then brand news one.
As long as it's cold the way it should be then it's okay.

Good luck

SOURCE: hisense air conditioner

-If both compressor and fan motor starts and stop, thermostat is the defect.
- If only the compressor check for your outlet no sign of discoloration, check the voltage if normal, check the defective overload protector of the compressor it its external, or compressor itself is defective

SOURCE: KENMORE SIDE BY SIDE COMPRESSOR KICKS OFF

HI. i would recommend to check the relay first, then the compressor last to confirm total failure. If both devices test out ok, this will lead to a failed main power control board.

THE RELAY

The compressor relay starts the compressor. A fault relay can result in the compressor failing to cycle on. The relay is accessed from the lower rear of the refrigerator. The compressor relay can be accessed by removing the terminal cover box. The cover is held on by tension or with a retaining clip. On some units. the relay may not be covered at all.(each model may vary). Beneath the terminal cover(if equipped), you will find the compressor relay, and the overload protector as well. The electrical terminals of the compressor motor are located here also. Remove the compressor relay by pulling it straight off from the compressor, gently. Pull the wire off of the side terminal of the relay. It is connected with a slip on connector. Firmly pull the connector, do not pull on the wire. You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers. Inspect the connector and terminal for corrosion. If either is corroded they should be cleaned or replaced. There are two types of relays you may encounter, wire coil and solid state. If the relay has an exposed wound wire coil it can be tested for continuity. Otherwise, the relay is of solid state design and requires specialized equipment for testing. Test the relay with a ohm(multimeter), for continuity. Set the meter to the ohms setting X1. With the relay upside down, place the probes into the terminals labeled "S" and "M"(the labeling may vary on each modle). The meter should display a reading of zero ohms, indicating continuity (or if using a continuity tester, it should light up). With the probes still in place, turn the relay over. You should hear the click of the magnetic switch engaging. The meter should now display an ohm reading of infinity (or the tester should not light up). Turn the relay upside down again, place the probe on the "S" terminal and place it on the side terminal labeled "L". The meter should now display a reading of zero ohms (continuity). Turn the relay over and the reading should change to infinity. With the relay upside down place one probe on the "L" terminal and the other probe on terminal labeled "M". The meter should display a reading of zero ohms. Turn the relay over and the reading will stay the same, zero ohms. Now, if the relay fails these described tests, it should be replaced asap.

COMPRESSOR TEST PROCEDURE

The compressor is accessed from the lower rear of the refrigerator. Generally the same proximity of the relay. The compressor motor can be accessed by removing the terminal cover box. The cover is held on by tension or with a retaining clip. The main testing points will be the actual terminal post that hold the relay, gently pull the relay of the terminal box on the side of the compressor, and use the relay holding probes for testing. Once the relay is removed, Place one probe on any terminal and then touch the other probe to each of the other two terminals. The multimeter should display a reading of zero ohms. Be sure to set your meter to 1X before beginning. Now move the first probe to a different terminal and test the other two terminals with the other probe. Finally, move the first probe to the last terminal and test each of the other terminals with the other probe. Every test should have continuity with the multimeter displaying zero ohms. If the compressor motor does not pass all of these tests, the compressor will require professional service. Now test the compressor for ground. With the multimeter still set to X1, touch one probe to bare metal on the compressor housing (it may be necessary to scratch away a little paint to expose the metal). Touch the other probe to each of the three terminals in turn. None of the terminals should have continuity; the multimeter should display a reading of infinity. If any of the grounding tests show continuity, the compressor will require professional service.

NOTE_ If both components test out ok, the culprit will be a faulty main control board.

SOURCE: Refrigerator not cooling, compressor runs for 10 sec

Good day,
Either the start relay mounted on the compressor is hanging up and the protective overload is shutting the compressor down, or the compressor itself has an internal problem.
You can remove the relay from the compressor pins and take it to an appliance parts house for testing.
They will be happy to check it or you. If defective, replace. If it checks out O.K. then you have an internal problem with the compressor and it will take a qualified tech to sort it out.

Hello I have a True T35G commercial fridge ...it runs for a few weeks then stops cooling , I unplug and let sit for a day then it starts working for a few weeks. Any suggestions ?

See if you can catch it next time its running....

Serious answer, your coils are probably filthy. Get a vacuum and remove the service vent and clean out the compressors condenser coils. That is the usual cause of this. If you dont, itll overheat the compressor and you will have an expensive metal cabinet instead of a fridge.

I have a hotpoint FF72P fridge freezer. it comes down to temperature (-22/+4) without any problem, but after this the compressor won't cut in.

takes time for the temperature inside the fridge -freezer to normalize after doors are being left open

turning off a fridge freezer on and off wont help it

it takes time to for the thermostat to kick start the compressor
and more time to reach the freezing temp lost

if you are certain the thermostat is damaged
call in a service man
have the thermostat replaced and have them check
the gas in the system is running the correct pressure

I have a Samsung rs21!!! it wont cool in either compartment. when I plug it in the compressor fan does a quarter turn then stops. the compressor runs for about 30 seconds then cuts out? any ideas plea

most likely the start relay on the compressor that changes from start windings to run windings. the compressor will run for about 30 seconds on start windings then click out on internal thermal overload.
this can be confirmed by turning it on and letting it do the 30 second run then when it stops just wait and see if it cuts in and tries to run again (usually takes about 5 min) the second time it cuts in it wil most likely not run for as long (usually about 10 seconds). if this is what it does get a new compressor start/run relay.
as for the fan flick it with your finger and see if it spins freely.

Probably the compressor has shorted.
99.999% of the time this is the main culprit.

Fridge and freezer not cooling. The fan is running

Is the compressor clicking? If so, the pressure may be too high. tHis happens if the temperature control is lowered too soon after the compressor cuts off, or if house power fails for a shorrt period, etc.

1. UNPLUG the power cord.
2. Set the temperature dial to the settings you want.
3. Close doors and wait a full 10 minutes (more if you don't get impatient).
4. After 10 full minutes, plug power cord back in. It should start now.
5. Try not to open fridge for an hour or so, or until you hear tyhe compressor cycle off.

Hope this hellps!

Subzero 361rfd fridge compressor wont stay runnig

It sounds like you have either a bad relay or a bad compressor. The fact that you hear the compressor try to start indicates that the control is good and there is voltage to the compressor. I would suspect the strat winding of the compressor but a meter would need to be used to determine is this is true.

Fridge is not cooling freezer is not freezing

Your compressor is seized and is cycling on intenal overload, you will have to get someone out to get a price at replacing the compressor for your fridge.

Motor goes on/off every few second.

You have problem with the motor compressor,it is trying to start, but cannot for one reason or another, could be siezed motor, sticking start relay.etc'
It is stopping and starting due to the motor overload device cutting in and out. it acts as a safety device.
This is usually associated with a serious malfunction..Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Fridge not cold. freezer frosting up. fridge running all the time . Something sounds like it is trying to start but it will not start

If you are getting a hum for about 5-10 seconds followed by a click, tht is the compressor short cycling. You may have a bad compressor relay, or the compressor itself could be bad. If the frost your seeing is on the back wall of the fredezer that could indicate a defrost problem.
