I just got a Brita faucet filter and every time I turn on the water (no matter how low) the filter flies off the casing.

Support the bottom of the filter system with one hand. Align the insert groove on the lower part of the cartridge with the Filter Replacement Indicator at the front of the filter cup. Insert the filter cartridge into the filter cup until a "click" is heard. Do not force the filter cartridge into the system base. Inserting the new filter cartridge automatically resets and activates the electronic Filter Replacement Indicator. A green signal will flash, indicating that the filter is engaged.

Refer to instruction.
Move the filter handle toward you to activate the filtered water

  • Jennifer Takahashi May 07, 2019

When I "activate" the filtered water the filter flies out of its sink attachment (which stays firmly attached to the sink.
I was seeking a remedy to the flying filter.

SOURCE: DELTA MODEL 470-WH LOW WATER FLOW AT KITCHEN FAUCET

This could be a couple of things.

  1. First remove the aerator from the wand and make sure you have plenty of flow with it off.
  2. If there is flow clean or replace the aerator.
  3. Remove the wand and look between the hose connection and the wand there should be a screen between them. Remove the screen and clean or replace.
  4. Make sure hose is kinking under the sink.
If you need a diagram of the faucet with part numbers here is the link:

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Keurig states Ready to Brew, but it just spits

This same thing happened to me yesterday. I would start to brew, a teaspoon of water would come out, then nothing. I didn't descale because the pump wasn't pulling water. After calling Keurig, I decided to mess around with my machine since a new one was on the way. Check the intake valve where the reservior hooks up. I noticed some standing water in mine, so I spent 30 minutes siphoning it out with a twisted paper towel. I didn't think it would work- but it did! Back to full functioning, at least for now. Keep siphoning until the towel end comes out completely dry.

SOURCE: Brita faucet filter will not stay on faucet

Want a free adapter and patient enough to wait for a couple of weeks to get them?
"To receive a special adapter free of charge, call 1-800-24-BRITA or 1-800-387-6940 (CANADA)."
Call the number above and a voice prompt will give you instructions on how to get your adapter for free. 2 weeks might be too long but the best thing is it is made of stainless steel/chrome and it comes in 3 different kind of adapters with rubber washers.

Brita filter

When you initially soak the bag in water make sure to squeeze it lightly and shake to release all the air bubbles. Also, you should pour out the first couple pitchers of water after using a new filter as it takes time to break in. This way all of the gray or black filter water will be gone by the time you wish to drink. For more water filter and pitchers go to www.freshwatersystems.com.

Brita faucet filter adapter is stuck in my faucet

It sounds like the adapter was screwed in at an angle. This causes the threads to cross in turn making it near impossible to unscrew. Since it is plastic I recommend buying a new adapter. I know it's unfortunate, however it is a lost cause.

I have a brita faucet filter. And the selector knob is getting harder to turn. If it gets any worse I will need to use a wrench. I wanted to try to lube up the movement if I can open up the casing. How...

I have a Brita faucet filter (model FF-100) that lately has become harder and harder to turn. I toyed with the idea of forcing the unit apart but, instead opted to lube the mechanism directly from the top, where the unit attaches to the faucet.
To this mean, you will have to 1) Detach the unit from the faucet. 2) Remove the filter. 3) Thoroughly wash the unit, inside and out, turning the knob to flush any debris that may be present. 4) Pour some drops of vegetable oil inside the mounting opening, coating the valve stem within. (Oil may pass thru the unfiltered water outlet, so choose an appropriate working space). 5) Turn the water handle (knob) to lube the valve repeatedly, until it loosens. 5.b) Optionally, you could let the oil sit for some time inside the base. 6) Rinse the unit and reinstall it on faucet (without the filter). 7) Turn knob to unfiltered position, and flush with warm/hot water. 8) Do likewise with knob set to filtered, but open faucet only slightly, to avoid over-spraying. 9) Remove base unit from faucet and repeat steps 3-9, as needed. 10) Reinstall unit with filter, as instructed by manual.
Water valves may seize due to mineral deposits. While you may be tempted to use detergents or solvents, be reminded that unless thoroughly rinsed, chemicals may corrode plastics, degrade your filter, or even wind up in your drinking water, so caveat.

When I pour water into Brita pitcher I always get a lot of sediment or whatever it is from the replacement filters. I tried pouring different ways but not much of a difference.

From the description of this model's replacement filters, they appear to be carbon filters. What you are seeing is most likely bits of carbon granules from the filter media (which doesn't say much for the construction quality of these filters). I would suggest getting an inexpensive countertop or under-counter filtration system instead of using Brita pitcher filters. These systems usually come with both carbon and sediment filters and if you get a non-proprietary one (i.e. not a system off the shelf at Lowe's), the filter elements are a lot cheaper to replace.

Unable to find filters in store. where can i buy them in Halifax

You can order from amazon. Usually ship in 1 day. I'm very satisfied.
But, Brita filters are not the only filters on the market. There are better Brita alternative filters.
