SOURCE: what size file do i use for a Ryobi chainsaw model pcn4545

The standard chain file should fit it. It is about 3/16 dia. I found the dremel to work 10 times better, they have a little stone bit just for chains. Eventually, you have to take it in for sharpening, it will set all the teeth the same.

SOURCE: ryobi 4450c clogged oil passage

HI There I have the same problem with the same chainsaw. I have stripped mine down and it's fairly simple to gain access to the oil pump. Mine has turned out to be the worm gear that turns the pump and possibly the pump. I am going to replace both but can't find a supplier for the pump and worm gear, if anyone can help me with a supplier that would be great. As for stripping out the pump you have to remove the gear wheel to do this you have to remove the spark plug and insert a tool to stop the engine turning while you tap the gear wheel off. there should be an arrow on the gear wheel but it will be a left hand thread. once this is off thereare a couple of collars around the shaft that will slide off then there is a couple of screws to take a plastic plate off this has to come next. once this is off there is the worm that is like a washer that sits on the shaft and rotates and has a thread on the underside that turns the pump. then there are two screws holding the pump in. Hope this helps.

Ryobi chain saw manual i have my dads ryobi chainsaw 360 can anyone tell me what type of oil i pour into the reserviour please , i can find a mnaul online , thanks for any help

You need chainsaw oil to lubricate the chain in the reservoir but it works out expensive. In U.k it's 10 pound per liter so myself i use vegetable oil. It works okay but the smell is not great when it heats up.

Excessive use of chain oil

Unlike most bigger gasoline powered chainsaws, the Ryobi RCS2040 electric chainsaw does not have an oil adjuster. The oil pump on it is pretty much a simple mechanism that moves the oil on a "cork screw" -it rotates when your chainsaw runs, then your oil glides out of the reservoir into the tube towards the chain oiler. Amount of oil used will depend on two factors: 1.) Type of oil used. We sell winter grade and summer grade (but we are in Southern California, this doesn't make any difference). Our customers prefer the less tackier ones because it doesn't burn their bars under heavy use and it is less strain on the unit, however this drips out fast. 2.) Integrity of your oil line system, and the size of your reservoir (on your model, it IS small). Our rule of thumb here is that if it drips bar & chain oil, it's working. Well, that is unless it's leaking someplace else other than the bar oiler. Check the oil tube - it should be on the bottom of your chainsaw right on the same side as the oil tank.

Generally, speaking for both mid-sized electric and gas powered saws - 45 minutes of worth of cutting should have your bar and oil tank depleted already. Our contractor customers even have it opened way up.

HOW do i get to oil pump on pcn4040 chainsaw ryobi

Hello. Although this schematic is not exactly your model it will show you how to get to the oil pump. http://hcpi.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=HML531&session=0ab23ef9-141d-4254-8c9a-35e130708e56&cat=3&TF=epcFrame&assem=5035&ignoreHist=Yes&level=1

That said, many times, the bar and chain oil is too thick for these electric models. Thin yours down with a wee bit of kerosene and it will flow better for you. Joe

4 thumbs up please. ty.

Where are the oiling ponts to the bar to the ryobi 16 inch petrol chainsaw?

Hi
It's Lisa?
On an electric chainsaw there usually aren't what you would call oiling points.Somewhere, probably on the rear or one side of the case will be a bulb. It's also the screw on cap for the oil reservoir.
You fill that up with chainsaw bar oil,and as you use the saw every few minutes push the bulb down 2-3 times and it applies oil to the chain and gear in the case. The chain transfers the oil to the bar.
If this helps, would you rate my post please?
Thanks Bob
By the way,if you give me your model number I can look for a manual somewhere. No promises though,Ryobi likes to sell their manuals rather than download them.

Need to know what kind of oil to put in ryobi chainsaw

If it is an electric chainsaw (not gas powered) then the only oil you need is chainsaw bar oil, which lubricates the chain and bar during use (self feeding system). This goes into the chamber at the top of the saw. You can buy chain/bar oil for chainsaws at any good hardware store or outdoor power equipment store. You can use any brand of chain bar oil, most are pretty good.

If it is a gas/petrol operated model, I will need to know the model number to advise on that.
