LG WM3988HWA excessive water fill to dryer condenser. Soaked clothes 50% of the time. other times, no problem.

I have the intermitent water fill in dry cycle issue. Sometines a long "TUB CLEAN" cycle improves the dry cycle. However, after power unplug, 1 minute "hold power" button and several tries, the water fill for dry cycle still seems to over fill for condensation drying, leaving clothes soaked. Occasionally I add 3 pieces to dry. might dry fast. then 3 more are soaked. something else causing this. years ago, same excessive water in dry cycle. new valve ordered, not installed. Dryer suddenly dried perfect. Baffled. maybe 3-way valve finally dying.

Hi there. In some cases if your dryer vent tube is bunched up behind the dryer and not extended properly or if vent tube is running up the wall to be vented to the outside it will cause water to build up in dryer vent tube. Make sure your flexible dryer tubing is not full of water or clogged with lint and make sure if you have an extended piece that goes to outside ventilation that that is not clogged with lint as well. Hope this helps you with your drying issues.

SOURCE: WM3988HWA Pumps Cold Water in Drying Mode!

Replace the 5 way valve. get the old flow restrictor out of the drying cold water line before reconnecting. It came out of the valve to cause the problem.

SOURCE: bosch axxis wtl 5410 dryer takes too long to dry.

You should have a cycling thermostat. this is most likely bad or your dryer vent may be clogged. Something is cutting the heat off before it gets hot enough. Both these cause this problem.

LG WM3988HWA water filling drum and overflowing during dry cycle

Solution for finding the right part, the (5 way) Valve assembly:Part Number: AP4998623 made by LG
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5520795

I got the company link from LG. If the link does not work, go the the main website and enter in the model number. appliancepartspro(.)com
p.s. I found a service manual for my unit when I removed (by unscrewing) the inside plastic piece of the pump filter. It was located to the right, in a plastic bag.
p.s.s. I checked my water pressure, it was 90psi. I think this is why my flow limiter 'shot out' the valve and into the tubing.
p.s.s.s. The dryer heater assembly, the duct out, fan, and tubing was filled with so much lint, I was surprised anything could get through.

Display code FE... what needs to be done

FE in an over fill error. (the pump should automatically come on to drain water) If the machine is not overfilling, check the thin hose that goes to the water level switch. If it is overfilling you will either need to replace the inlet water valve if it is filling with no power to the vavle, or the main control board if it is receiving power in the FE condtion.

I have a LG wm3988hwa and it pumps cold water into the drum while drying. I have determined that it is not the 5way valve. Any ideas?

I have not looked up your model number, but on LG combo washer/dryers, drying requires addition of some cold water in the vertical vent area to facilitate condensation (and thus moisture removal) from the dryer's air stream. This cold water should then pass under the drum without contacting the clothes. I'd check the pump inlet filter at the front left of the machine, and I'd remove the back of the machine and then the big rubber connector at the lower left side (as viewed from the back of the machine) and remove any lint which may be impeding water flow at that point.

Dryer heats but no condensing of steam

The cold water feeds for condenser cooling and for wash cycle drum fill are controlled by separate solenoid valves (manifolded together at the cold water inlet hose union). When the solenoid on my condenser coolant valve failed a couple of years back, I got symptoms like yours. A new pair of valves isn't expensive to buy and is a trivial job to fit. If this is what has been happening, suggest you also inspect the insides of your dryer fan and of the pump - neither of mine took really kindly to having been cooked for hours on end. Alastair.
