My fridge motor was replaced last yr November. The freezer is fine, but the fridge has to be set to 7, the last setting on the thermostat. There is also a smell when you open the fridge.

Does it need to be regassed, or is the thermostat faulty? Thanks.

I think there may be a small gas leakage in your fridge and that smell may be due to this problem. If the gas level is low you may have to set the thermostat to max as the efficiency of the compressor is low.

SOURCE: Burnt smell inside freezer.

Generally speaking it is the refrigerator control that controls the compressor operation. Refrigerator is cooled by air from the freezer. When the refrigerator gets down to its designed temperature it shuts off the compressor. The freezer control determines how much air is allowed to flow into the refrigerator section and there-by controls the freezer temperature.

SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL CB18M FRIDGE FREEZER

3 things to check. If you didn't adjust the damer from the freezer to the refrigerator, like closed it off. Is the freezer fan running? The fan blows air from the freezer to the refrigerator section. Some fans shut off when the door is open so you may have to push in the door switch to check this out.
Look for ice on the back wall, of the freezer section, If present then the defrost cycle is not working. The evap. coil is icing up and there is no air blowing into the refrigerator. Set the thermostat back to the normal setting it just causes a longer run time on the freezer section.

Sub-zero refer.611/s is working fine but the freezer compressor has been running 24/7 for the last 2 weeks. Sometimes the freezer drops from it's setting of zero to 16-. Coils are clean and fan works.

I think it isn't fine because if a fridge/freezer that is otherwise healthy runs continuously (due to a thermostat fault), it would be colder than you could imagine with lower than arctic temperatures in the freezer compartment, minus 30-40 C for example.

The conclusion must be your fridge isn't fine.
Proper freezer temperature, incidentally, is minus 25-27 C for food to have a reasonable lifespan with minimal deterioration. There is no benefit from being colder but significantly warmer would mean the freezer contents should be replaced much more often - the freezer compartment of an old fashioned fridge (about minus 5) was reckoned to give fish, meat and dairy up to one month safe lifespan.

A fridge that runs continuously (where the thermostat is good) could have a refrigerant loss resulting in a huge drop in efficiency, the insulation could be failing, the compressor could be failing or the de-icing panel could be permanently switched on - or any combination of these things.

I note you say the coils are clean. If the refrigeration system is good with the compressor running continuously the coils will be hand-hot.

I have a Fridgeadaire MTRF322 F/F - 7 yr old. The thermostat in the fridge clicks in when I turn to 7. I then turn down to 3 - 4 as per instructions. The fridge gets cold, even ices on the back but then...

While on holiday, leave it on 7. When you get back, get the thermostat changed, but only after checking the following:
Condenser grille clear and clean, all fans working ok, defrost freezer and recheck fridge, check door seals properly, try setting at 5 or 6 and see if the freezer is better able to hold temperature

Freezer works fine but fridge has lost its temperature.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp

..
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Maytag FrenchDoor- fridge not cool

My friend you need a new circulation fan motor.
As you can see the diagram.
Your freezer do not need fan to be cold, but your refrigerator need a fan to deliver cool air into it.

Beaumark fridge freezer is going on and off

Check the condensor coils for dust, try to see if the condensor fan is blowing air over the coil, check inside the freezer to assure the inside fan is circulating air, and if the "noise" is coming from either of the fan motors, they will need replaced by a service technician.

" The refrigerator never cycles offThe thermostat cycles the refrigerator on and off. The refrigerator normally runs as long as the temperature inside the refrigerator is higher than the set temperature. If the temperature inside the refrigerator is cold enough and the thermostat still does not cycle off, the thermostat may be defective. If so, you need to replace it, because it cannot be repaired. If the thermostat is not defective, you may have a problem with the sealed (refrigerant) system, in which case you should contact a qualified appliance repair technician.
