I have an HP 5510 All in one, and mine did the same thing. There was a plastic fingerlike thing that had hung up just to the right of the printhead, preventing it from moving. I removed the cartridge and managed to get the part unstuck with a screwdriver.

There are pieces of paper stock on the sensor, when the paper jam happened then you pull out the paper did you get the whole page of the paper or have missing pieces? open the paper guide, turn off and on the printer and observe the unusual objects in the roller, this error is caused by objects in the sensor.

The problem is normally on the exit sensor. Please check the exit sensor if its in the right possition. If the exit sensor is in the right position, also check the registration sensor if its sitting in the right position.Normally the problem is that the sensors (either the 'exit ' or 'registration' sensors) will be not in their correct position. If the two sensors are ok,there should be a small paper lleft in the machine
