I couldn't find an illustration of the planer so don't know whether it is a compact bench jointer, a portable thicknesser or a workshop planer/thicknesser where any suitable motor can easily be adapted to fit, often representing large savings over the machine manufacturer's prices.

Replacement motors and motor parts for integrated machinery often become obsolete quickly or are available but are priced not to sell and an otherwise good machine has to be replaced.

There are many companies around the world offering small motor rewinds, usually at prices far less than a replacement motor, offering the chance to make an otherwise obsolete tool useful again.

SOURCE: planer problems

If you're looking at the planer from the infeed side, there's a belt guard on the right side of the head. Remove it and check the condition of the drive belt. If it's broke the motor will spin without powering the cutterhead and feed rollers. The drive belt is still available as part number 22-563 on sites like http://servicenet.dewalt.com/ and www.ereplacementparts.com. Just put your model number in their search box and find the drive belt in the breakdown.

SOURCE: how do you change the cutter bar bearings on a delta 12 inch planer

You are looking at a major disassembly to get at the cutter head bearings, everything is built around the cutter head. The motor drives the cutter head on one end of it and the cutter head drives the rollers at the other end. Most of the components have to be removed to get the cutter head and it's bearings out. You can go to www.ereplacementparts.com and do a search on your model number for a good breakdown of your planner and see what you need to remove to get at the cutter head and it's bearings.

Replace the drive belt

Do you mean replacing the cutter head drive belt?

With power off start the ribbed belt on the motor pulley, insert allen wrench into cutter head shaft. slowly rotate cutter head while feeding belt onto cutter head pulley. While rotating head, alternate between pulleys feeding it on one rib at a time. Softening the belt in hot water is NOT necessary to install the belt in this fashion.

Could there be a blown fuse to prevent this from starting, I turned it on and the motor stated for about a blip of second, my electrical panel was not triped though

I answer questions for free.
Your model planer might be different than mine.
My 12" planer has a red reset button on the motor.
There could be a loose wire in the receptacle.
Check the receptacle for power.

Your product manual should have an illustration of the reset button.
The power tool companies do not have manuals for every model number, but they have service centers.
