It is difficult to diagnose without providing a model number to your refrigerator however I am wondering it is equipped with an ice maker? It is common for fridges to come with one and many are not hooked up to a water line. If this happens, then the ice maker will continue to cycle trying to get water. The inlet valve in the back of the unit will buzz when there is no water pressure going to it. Please check your owners manual on how to turn the ice maker off if it has one and it is not hooked up.
If this is not the issue, then please give a model number for further assistance.
SOURCE: Buzzing sound
the buzzing sound is the compressor trying to start. Unfortunately, it is locked up and the overload is cutting it out. It resets every couple of minutes or so. The problem is the compressor. You can try a hard start capacitor to see if it breaks loose, this is the cheap fix, otherwise it needs a new compressor, the expensive one.

There is most likely a voltage regulation fault, or some filter capacitors that are going defective. It would be best to have this serviced before the parts fail completely and cause some damage.

Bad relay on compressor.
Sometime the relay will start if you unplug the Ref for 30-40 min, let it cool off. Plug it back in, if you get the same buzzing, replace the relay.
SOURCE: A loud intermitant buzzing coming from the back of the fridge
either the noise is coming form he ice maker fill valve( but if its of and still aking noise i doubt it. it also possible that the noise is coming from the compressor itself, overheating nad trying to restart in which case would give a slight "buzz" noise for 5secs or so then "click" off, and wait maybe 3 min to restart again. look for melted ice andperhaps your ice dream ont as hard as it should be???

You have one of two problems going on. Your fan is spinning at hitting the sides. Or your compressor is shot which seems to be more the problem and even though it is cold the humming sound is a warning for you that the compressor is shot and it is more affordable to replace the fridge then the compressor. Sometimes compressor can cost more then the fridge.
