This may sound redundant but, did you check out the onscreen munu, and go to " troubleshooting " ? If that doesn't help call the manufacturer of the TV.
Does your TV have an automatic darken ,if you go to settings I'm sure you can turn that off.
is the tv dark at night with no lights on in the Room or is it in the daytime. when lights are on there is a circuit on most new tv's to automatically darken the picture if it's bright in the room and brighten the picture if it is bright in the room.

If the lamp has been replaced I would think the Lamp ballast would be most likliest followed by the color wheel and then the Digital board. You can get any part needed for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com just leave them a email they respond quickly.

The lamp is the only thing that will cause the picture to go darker. According to the model you have the lamp part number is BP96-01472A. The noise you hear could possibly be the color wheel itself. The way to tell is when you turn off the TV the lamp stays on for about 10 seconds longer. Once the lamp shuts off if that noise goes away then it is a bad color wheel. Any noises past that would be a fan. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...
