Stiff clothes in my GE front load washer

I'm having the same problem as the previous poster. Our clothes are so stiff. At first the stains weren't coming out even using hot water and the stain cycle, so I added liquid oxyclean for HE washers. Now, they are clean but the clothes are so rough.

Is it too much detergent? I do an extra rinse cycle which, of course, defeats the water efficiency idea. Help!

Add two cups of white vinegar to the tub and run the hottest and longest cycle. this will clean out your machine thoroughly.

After that add one cup of white vinegar to the wash to prevent stiffness

That may not be possible; many units have connected front and sides that are removed as one piece by removing hardware in the back and inside the washer.

Clothes coming out with stains they didn't have - looks like oil/grease

Front load greasy residue ,

Due usually to much detergent in each load, use smaller amounts.
To much detergent degrades the rubber seals and gaskets and rubber seal also in some front loaders around the door too!

Over the life of a front loading washer the seal/gasket degrades
largely due to the chemicals in the detergent as well as bleach.

Most gaskets/seals get hard and brittle therefore the over the life of a front loading washer
the seal/gasket degrades largely due to the chemicals in the detergent as well as bleach.

Ruining cloths, leaves black stain.

Black stains could only come from rubber part that is deteriorating. Need to check all hoses, rubber boot and at bearing seal.
