If this is one of those solid state coolers who's only moving parts are fans, I'd say that you were doing well at 0 F. Those boxes, over here in the States, are only rated at 40 degrees F., (4.4 C), below ambient air temperature. If the car is at 40 F., the box will be at 0 F. If the car is at 80 F., the box will be at 40 F. Years ago, I'd have been calling you long distance to find out where you got yours but I don't travel so much now.

SOURCE: Freezer not cold enough; fridge OK

Hello cokoliso,
Welcome to Fixya

You said, your Trio won't make ice. Freezer stays at about 25 degrees regardless of control setting. Fridge maintains 40 degrees at mid setting. Shouldn't the freezer be close to zero? Is there a way to check the temperature sensor in the freezer?

To check the temperature you can buy a refrigerator thermometer at the hardware store.
Ask if it can be used in the freezer too!

The fridge sounds slightly to cold and the freezer not enough.
Fist look in your freezer and check if the articles there are full to the max and covering the air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer. If so clear an opening for the freezer to breath.
Refrigerators and freezers usually share the cold air and I've seen this be the problem on many occasions.
If freezer was not I blocking the vents or even full to the max.

Then pull the plug out or if you can not reach the plug, trip the breaker off for 5 minutes and see if this resets the system.BUT do not plug the fridge back in before at least 3 minutes.

Let me know how it goes and send me any questions.
Thank You, Huuum

SOURCE: Freezer and Fridge temperature not very cold

I can find only one good reason why your refrigerator may not be cooling. There is a control board inside the fresh food compartment and no signs of a defrost timer. If there is someone that go through some test to eliminate other possible problems would be good. If the refrigerator is still running, unplug and open the freezer compartment. Remove the back panel so we can have a look at the evaporator coils. Clean or are they frozen with a large piece of ice? Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

SOURCE: freezer extremly cold, some frost

The compressor is cycled on/off by the fresh food temperature setting. The freezer setting controls a panel, or door if you will, that allows cold air to be blown into the freezer.

Since both compartments are getting too cold, the most likely culprit is the fresh food thermostat control, since it controls the compressor cycle. Try setting it to a higher setting, even if it's above normal. Use a manual thermometer to check the temperature of the fresh food compartment and compare it to the control setting. The readings should be the same or very nearly the same.

I assume your refrigerator is controlled by a solid state controller (i.e. a printed circuit board). Some of these allow for calibration of the thermostat to coincide with the actual temperature of the fresh food compartment. That would most likely have to be done by a service technician unless you have expertise in the field.

If calibration is not an option, if you can live with the thermostat setting not reflecting the actual temperature, a free fix is to simply set it higher than you actually want it to be, recognizing that the actual temperature is 'X' degrees lower than the thermostat setting.

The freezer compartment temperature will be similarly affected, and can be controlled by the freezer temp setting, which is actually nothing more than setting the position of the panel which allows or restricts air from being blown into the fresh food compartment from the freezer. Again, the compressor is cycled on and off by the thermostat in the FRESH FOOD compartment which gets its cold air from the freezer compartment.

SOURCE: fridge broken, freezer is temp. that fridge should

Pull the refrig out and remove the 8 " x 10 " panel . Behind this panel , is the main control board . Unplug the refrig . Remove the BLUE plug from the board , with 3 larger wires going to it . Looking at the blue plug , the sequence will be wire1,wire2,space,wire3 . Get a short piece of insulated wire , and strip about 1/4 inch from each end . Insert 1 end into wire2 , and the other into wire3 . ( If you notice your compressor is not running before unplugguing the blue plug , then jump wire1 to wire3 to see if the compressor runs . If so , then the main control board is bad . Plug the refrig back in to see if compressor starts with the jumper wire in place , ) . Plug the refrig back in . After about 3 min , look in the freezer , at the bottom , behind the crisper , look for a red glow . If no red glow , unplug the refrig , and reassemble the plug and cover . This no glow , indicates a shorted defrost heater WR51X10101 . It is also advisable to replace the defrost thermostat ( pt. number WR50X10068 ) when replacing the heater . To access these parts , you will have to remove the inside rear wall of the freezer . The heater , is at the bottom of the coils , held on with 2 screws , and the thermostat , is the 1 " cylinder , with a blue and pink wire going to it , clipped on the top left of the coils .
If you do get a red glow , then the # 4 thermistor is bad . This tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted , when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp and when to cycle off due to selected temperature .

Avanti small fridge freezer temp control?

The single control is what you have to regulate temperature electrically. Variance in temperature is otherwise influenced by how much is contained within (which affects cooling circulation) and how much you keep opening the door. https://settingslab.com/avanti-mini-fridge-settings/

I just defrosted a Zanussi fridge/freezer, turned it back on but won't temperature control any more.

'regulator'? Do you mean the thermostat? Modern fridge freezer thermostats don't make any noise because they are electronic and use a Thermistor electronic sensor. Is the compressor and fan running? It takes about 2 hours to get back to temperature. The control knob should always be set midway to start, then you adjust +/- depending on the internal temperature..

Why is the refrigerator side is freezing food

First some fridge 101, the refrigerator/freezer models cool by directly refrigerating the freezer section and the refrigerator section is cooled when "some" of the cold air from the freezer is directed over to the refrigerator side (typically by a fan) to keep food fresh and not frozen a temperature controlling damper opens and closes to regulate the temperature of the fridge by introducing more or below freezing air into the cabinet. In older models where the freezer was on top the air simply "gravity" drained into the refrigerator cabinet, if the food was too cold you turned the fridge knob up and less air sank from the freezer to the fridge, simple but effective.

When you adjust the temperature level it controls the freezer temperature and this turns the compressor on and off to keep the food frozen. There is typically a knob or lever and some even have electric dampers that open and close to direct more or less air from the freezer and direct it to the refrigerator cabinet based on your temperature requirements.

Now that you know how it works there are a couple things to check. If the condenser coil is plugged with dust the internal system pressure will rise and in some cases make the fridge an over achiever and can chill too much so check/clean the condenser coil. Check the freezer temperature control and turn in up, also make sure the fridge temperature control setting is not set too cold.

Finally as the temperature changes around the refrigerator it will have an effect on the inside of the fridge too so expect to turn it up and down as the environment changes, down in the summer and up in the winter.

Hope the novel helps to resolve your issues.

What shld settings be as food is freezing in fridge it has side by side knobs saying colder mid less cold it is a westinghouse fan forced frost free freestyle unit

The settings are "relative". Someone with this fridge in Montana may need to run the same fridge with different settings than someone in Texas to get the same temperatures.

Many manufacturers recommend that the fresh food compartment should be 34 degrees F, and the freezer -10 to 0 degrees F. To set this properly, place a thermometer in the freezer (that can display temperatures as low as the desired temperature). Adjust the thermometer for the correct freezer temperature before going on to the fridge. A fully stocked freezer could take 12 hours or more for temperatures to stabilize after making changes to the thermostat. Once the -10 to 0 degree temperature has been achieved, set the fresh food compartment temperature.

Place a thermometer (that can display below freezing) in a 6 (or so) oz flexible plastic cup of water and place on a shelf in the fridge. A glass of water could break if the temperature gets below 32 degrees if the water turns to ice. The water acts as a buffer to rapidly changing temperatures when the door is opened to read the thermometer. If the fridge is "full", allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize before making changes.

If the fridge and freezer are empty, changes may be seen in just a few hours or less. Otherwise, wait the 12 / 24 hours for the freezer / fridge compartments.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Fridge side won't regulate temp. however the freezer will freeze to -9 and stay right there! How do you test the thermostat? or is this a common problem. The fridge was built in 01' and nothing has been...

the thermostat is either off or on, and it controls the fridge temperature the freezer is just a by product of the remaining gas from the fridge usually -20/30 degrees lower than the fridge, two problems would cause this leaked gas would reduce the cooling capacity of the freezer but the fridge should stay ok although the compressor would be constantly on trying to keep temperature. the thermostat can fail after time not being able to keep a regular temp and not switching the compressor on enough to cool the system. unless you have a frost free where is usually a relay that controls the compressor witch have a life time rating of so many operations.
