Remote not working can it be manually set - Televison & Video

Better to buy a Remote made for that television. No programming and same buttons as the old one.

you would need to get the remote manual to help find the code for your remote so that you can control the Sony tv. Please visit the manufacturer website and search for the remote manual. If you cannot locate the manual on the website, please call the remote manufacturer directly and ask them to email it to you.

We will presume you do not have two bad remotes---the fact you can operate the set manually with the buttons there suggests a problem with the remote receiver====there is a tiny infrared receiver in the front of the set that receives the signals from the remote and sends them inside the set where the correct action is taken.

Make sure if you see it (usually small black area on frame of set) it is not blocked or dirty.

Failing that you may have a bad receiver for the remote---shop repair.

Your 9241 needs to be set to remote codes set #1 in order to work. The Harmony uses code set #1. You can do this by following the manual in the guide which comes with the unit. I don't remember exactly how to do it but it is in the manual. Once you change the remote code set to #1, the Harmony should work. I did this with a Harmony 300 and it worked flawlessly. QuintusPRE.

Had same problem - turned off Adaptive Lumina, Backlight control, and Ambient light sensors on the Vizio advanced picture settings and the Dish remote now works. Vizio was emitting an infared signal that interfered with the Dish remote signals with these settings on. TV still works and looks just fine... But best of all Dish remote works too.

According to page 15 of the manual, you should "Press and hold [ENTER] and the indicated number button at the same time for more than 2 seconds" This will work for SET 1, SET 2, etc. If you have lost the manual for the DVR/Remote you can download a copy at http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMRES15-MULTI.pdf

Do a search on Google for the manual.  Go to the box stores and buy you a cheap universal remote for about $10-25 and program the thing to work the TV.
