It would help if you provided a brand and model number, but I suspect you may need to replace your heating rod. Contact the manufacturer for the part. Check YouTube for instructions.

SOURCE: Fan assist wont heat oven

the ring element may have blown. if it works ok with the top and bottom elements, (the convection oven) then it is likely the element surrounding the oven fan.

SOURCE: Low flame/ side burner dosen't light

I just read this online and it worked for me. Hope you have similar luck.

Newer propane tanks contain a self regulating feature that will automatically slow down the flow of fuel if it thinks it's too high. This can be solved by turning the tank valve off completely and disconnecting it. Open the control valves (on the grill control panel) and ten close them. Reconnect the fuel tank and slowly turn on the valve. Now light the grill to see if that fixes it.

SOURCE: advantium -- wont cook

The solution to this problem is to replace the magnetron. I had the same symptoms, and I got a used magnetron and replaced it. It takes some advanced electrical skill, and you have to disassemble the oven all the way to the inside stainless steel. I have the same exact model, manufactured in November of 1999.

SOURCE: My Masterbuilt electric smoker stopped heating will cooking

I just bought a new Masterbuilt Smoker by default two weeks ago I borrowed a friend’s to smoke about 30lb. of Salmon to then can. Ran the smoker every day for three day. ON my last batch the heating element would not work. Talk about Frustrated! The Smoker was only 2 yrs. old.

Knowing I borrowed I felt I had to replace. So online to Cabelas and I ordered my buddy a new smoker and had it shipped. I then found this website... GOT TO LOVE the internet. I saw many other people had the same problem. Found an Answer...

The Problem was one of the connector to the heating element was poor quality and if you don't clean your smoker on a regular basis. The heat and moister caused the small copper connector to corrode and the wire to come loose. I took a wood chisel and cut off all the rivets on the back. I was then able to pull the back off with no damage and access the small box in the lower back. I found the connector. Went to the hardware store and bought a replacement for .75 cents. A pair of wire crimpers and the problem was fixed. I also bought ½ inch Sheet metal screws to secure the back it was good as new. So I returned the smoker to my buddy and kept the new one. When it arrived I saw Masterbuilt has since fixed the problem and provided an access panel to the element and connectors.

I keep getting an error msg. When it finally starts, it shuts off with the Err

Hi Terry,

This may help... ...from Treager's site FAQ

"My Unit Goes Out On Smoke
  1. Open the cooking chamber lid and remove cooking grill, angled drip pan and U-shaped firepot cover. Look and see if there is a large accumulation of pellet ash in and around the firepot. If there is, it will need to be cleaned out. Do this ONLY WHEN THE GRILL IS TOTALLY COLD! Replace U-shaped firepot cover, angled drip pan and cooking grills and resume cooking/smoking process.
  2. If this does not remedy the problem, please contact the Traeger Service Department."
From my personal experience, cleaning out the pellet ash is needed when the smoker will not hold a high temperature regardless of the thermostat setting.

In your case, the fire pot may be packed with pellet ash and pellets from the auger jamming.

Good luck.

Traeger shut off by itself.

I'm not sure how the pellets got there, but grease in the bottom of the Traeger can catch fire and cause all sorts of problems. One way to minimize this is to make sure the drip tray is level, so that it bleeds into the bucket instead of over the lowest edge of the tray.

My trager grill is smoking a lot in the pellet hopper

That could mean that pellets in the augur have caught fire and it can work its way back to the hopper. Then you really have a problem. Are you sure the fan is running?

You should be able to hear it. The fan helps keep the heat from working its way into the augur. If it's not running, you should also be having trouble controlling the temperature.

Traeger has specific instructions on its website for testing various components including the fan and customer support can assist you with this problem.

Here's a link to the Traeger website: http://www.traegergrills.com/. I'd suggest you get in touch with them ASAP because you definitely don't want to deal with burning pellets in the hopper.

What tempature and time to smoke ribeye steaks 1 inch

Hi kdmadden1...

Prepare the smoker for barbecuing by bringing the temperature up to 200°F to 220°F
(95°C to 105°C).
Put the steaks in the smoker and cook for about 2 hour for Medium Well to Well Done.
Check your steak at 1.5 hours to see how it is doing...maybe almost rare to medium rare...
During the last 15 minutes of cooking before the meat is done, you will brush the meat with some of marinade, bbq sauce, etc if you want.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up.

The traegger will not heat up past 350 degrees

Unfortunately, it's not realistically designed to heat above 250 -275 Degrees F. No matter what they call it, it's still a smoker, more than it is a grill. Even the Owner's Manual says the the optimal operation temperature is 180 to 200 degrees F. It's not designed to sear steaks.

Perhaps, if it was made of cast iron, rather than sheet steel, you could get the temp up past 350 degrees. If you really want a true smoker/grill, pay $700 to $800 and buy a Big Green Egg. And you wont have to buy some specialized pellets to burn in it. Just good old fashioned lump charcoal or wood chunks.

I wish I had better news for you, but it is what it is. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Food sticks to griddle

You can either use a cooking spray like Pam on the griddle prior to heating it. Or if you're cooking steaks, rub a little olive oil on each side of the steak, before seasoning (kosher Salt & Fresh Ground Pepper) it. For meats, always allow them to come to room temperature before grilling and allow the grill to preheat until is extra hot. The hotter the grill/griddle, the less likely red meats will stick to it.

Hope this helped you and Happy Grilling!! Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Pelpro pellet stove will not start. Press the start button, igniter button lights up but nothing happens.

Is the auger light coming on to and dropping pellets into the burn pot? If the auger light is not coming on, you probably have an issue with the board controlling it. If the auger light is coming on, and pellets are dropping into the burn pot and it is still not lighting, then you have only a few other possible problems.
1. The air damper is not allowing enough air in, so pull the damper rod out 1/8" increments until it lights.
2. Your ignitor is faulty and not producing enough heat to light the stove. You can either contact a local dealer and get a replacement ignitor, or you can manually light the stove with a special firestarting gel made for pellete stoves. When you press the start button look into the burn pot. If the ignitor isn't bright orange, you aren't getting enough heat from it.

Hope this helps...good luck.
