Do you use a regular antenna, or cable/satelits tuner?

I use only satelite tuner, and had the same problem on a differnt TV. I solved it by connecting a regular antenna (actually just a piece of cable) and go through the search and store routine once. Then the TV remembered that it was configured. Before that it thought it was "fresh out of the box" every time.

I have a 50 inch LG plasma tv that is less than 2 years old. It use to turn on by itself throughout the night, and now it's completely not working???

Hi there
Try doing a system reset on the TV, by unplugging everything from it, then wait 3 minutes and plug the power lead in only. If it works, then plug everything back in one by one. If the problem persists it may be that the software has been corrupted in an update process, which can be performed at night via the aerial signal (this may be why it was turning on at night). In which case contact the TV manufacturer.
Hope this helps

What does it mean when my plasma tv turns off by its self? its a panasonic viera plasma tv have had for bout two years

Basically when it turn itself OFF automatically all the time, the TV goes into "Protection Mode". This happens when there is a damaged circuit board inside the need to be replace and turn itself OFF to protect the other ones from being damaged.

A TV service tech will have to look at it to find out which boards need to be replace. There are about 7 different boards in your TV that would cause this problem.

42 LG plasma no picture but sound. found internal fuse had gone so replaced. Then when switched on it stays on for about 5 seconds and switches itself off again. Replaced power supply and now when switched...

Sounds like it started "Protection Mode" because of a failed electronic part inside the TV. When this happens, the TV will keep turning itself OFF or will not turn ON at all. This keeps the other parts inside from being damaged. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The common part to go bad for flat panel screens circuit board that powers the screen itself. Most manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say what is 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom.

You have a few choices:

1. Best thing to do, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, schematics, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. Its the best repair guide material for fixing TVs. And most cases the new part cost less than $15 by searching on the internet with the part number.

2. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Keeps turning off

This unit has a common problem with fans. If one of the cooling fans is intermittent the unit will turn off when the fan fails. A qualified tech with a service remote can get into the service menu and on this unit the is a menu line that shows pwr down failures.
