The dryer however does appear to be working (ie the internal light comes on when you open the door & the drum rotates when start is pressed.

3. LOW TEMP. button
Pressing this button allows drying to be performed at a lower temperature, for delicate items.
The corresponding pilot light comes on.
This option can also be used for time controlled drying.
This option cannot be selected with QUICK.
6. NO BUZZER button
A buzzer sounds
• when selecting the programme
• when depressing the buttons
• when an incorrect option selection is made
• when the programme selector dial is turned to another position
during the programme or when you depress an option button
during the cycle
• at the end of the programme and during the anticrease phase
• if the machine is not working correctly
By depressing the button the acoustic signal is switched on.

no problem with motor or control board. fault is with the motor capacitor only. this is often attached to the motor or near it. the value of the capacitor will be printed on it (usually about 8uf) and you should be able to source from an electrical spares shop

Sounds like the push to start switch has gone bad. Not to expensive to fix, and pretty easy to do as well. You can remove the rear of the console, remove the push to start switch (lift the tab, then turn to unlock) and replace. Be sure to mark your wires so they go back in the right order. Jim

On some Kenmore which is made by whirlpool, there is a resistor connected to the timer control. when the machine is off can you listen to the timer switch and hear it running, making a clock ticking sound? If so, you need a new resistor. Being a dryer, when you open the door and it stops the button needs to be reset before it starts again, right? So I wouldnt be looking at the door switch as much as the start button. It may be the evil one.

pull end caps off just grab at top of plastic and pull towards you remove the 2 screws underneath lift console up and roll back next to timer is a small control bd to right of that are 2 relays 1 with red wires for element and 1 with blue wires for motor first try switching the relays they are identical and will work for either 1 ..try if works replace relay ..if still not working suspect control bd
