The silver marks on the bobbin are part of the sensor. Try changing bobbin. Also, after the bobbin case swings out the little sensor eye is on the rear frame (about 1 o’clock). Use a flashlight to check if it is obstructed

Perhaps the bobbin thread sensor is dirty.

SOURCE: bernina 830, worked fine until today... think it

there is a board inside the foot pedal that goes out sometimes you can check this by flipping the foot pedal upside down and at the top right there is a small hole where you can adjust the speed with a flat head screwdriver but be gentle it breaks easy, if its out you can take it to a bernina dealer and they might have a reapired one or they can send yours off for repair since that part is repair only

SOURCE: old bernina 830 stitching problem: tight

Sounds like you need to adjust the tension. Probably a good idea to oil this older machine before you adjust. Also look for and clean out any lint or debris in bobbin case and around foot area.

SOURCE: Purchased a new Bernina 830 and need an easy way to thread bobbin

Pull the thread in the groove of the bobbin case and pull the thread to the left straight and up a bit. I discovered this helps to center the thread in the split where it needs to be.
Hope this helps

My bernina 830 hook won't open when I open the door to it

Hello LInda.
After opening the door, there are two clips (one on either side) which must be depressed to open the bobbin case assembly.
Which Bernina 830 do you have ... how old is it?
Please give me a 'thumbs up' if this was helpful. Otherwise, I need more information to assist you.

I have a vintage Bernina 830 and cannot get it to load the bobbin. I have it threaded properly but the bobbin won't spin.

Are you pressing the winding lever toward the bobbin?

If that's not the problem, you can probably have it serviced. Personally, I recommend picking up a stand-alone bobbin winder (called Sidewinder) for ~$30 at JoAnn's, Amazon, etc. They are usually battery and AC powered. Pretty handy little device. Makes bobbin winding fast and easy, can be wound without unthreading the machine, and saves wear and tear on your sewing machine.

How do I remove the free arm plate from my Bernina 830

Not sure I understand your question. Is that the old Bernina 830 Record? Removing the extension table will reveal the free arm. On the other hand, if you want to open the free arm to clean and oil, look inside the bobbin department and there is a little metal tab on the left top side that, when pushed, will release the cover.

How to reassemble the bobbin case in a bernina 830

It may be worthwhile buying a replacement bobbin case. They aren't really very expensive, plus it will have the correct tension pre-set.

I have a Bernina 830. Using #03 foot....bobbin thread through the hole in the arm of the bobbin. Why does it not go in reverse to finish the buttonhole?

If it is the older Bernina 830 Record, could be some of the parts have seized due to lack of oil. Frequently, seldom used functions (levers, dials, feed dog control) are the first signs.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

Be sure to move the dials/levers and apply oil there as well.

My Bernina 830 will not switch stitches. It says the number but shows straight stitch and sews straight stitch

Is it a new 830 computerized model or the older 830 Record mechanical?

If it is the 830 Record, it needs oiling--1-2 drops of good quality sewing machine oil (specifically concentrate on the stitch selector lever and oil the metal parts that move against other metal parts) Do NOT oil the cams, plastic gears, any rubber parts, ie belts, bobbin winder wheel.
