Snopes fiction or truth

Hi, There is no cure for Cancer yet. So don't fall for a quick fix.
Talk to your doctor about treatment options. Some Vitamins will slow the growth of some cancers but with some side affects.
Again Talk to your doctor for best treatments. Good luck.

Are there any foods I can eat to help improve my eyes and my eye sight? All my family wear glasses and suffer from eye problems so I want to do my best to avoid the same issues?

It's unlikely that you can avoid glasses etc if you have a strong family history as much of your vision is based on genetic outcomes. However there are foods and supplements that you can take that might improve the health of your eyes;

- Vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels and red peppers that contain a lot of vitamin C

- Wild salmon and sardines are packed full of omega 3 which can help protect the tiny blood vessels in the eye.

- Sweet potatoes and spinach that are full of beta-carotene, vitamin c and lutein.

Can eating carrots really help to protect your eyes?

Actually carrots can be helpful to your eyesight. They are loaded with beta carotene which is an anti oxidant that reduces the risk of macular degeneration. You need to eat quite a lot of carrots to feel the benefits but it definitely doesn't hurt.

I am very worried about eye conditions such as cataracts as it seems like everyone in my family has suffered from it in old age. Are there any vitamins or supplements I can take to help prevent it?

there is some evidence that the nutrients lutein and zeaxanthin can help prevent the kind of diseases that take away eyesight, but it's also really important that you have regular check ups with an eye doctor who knows about your family history and can tell you of any preventative measures and what to look out for.
