SOURCE: Water leak from Goldstar GWHD 5000 window ac unit.

ok what you need to do, get someone to pull the a/c out and clean it. it gets full of dust and it sticks to the coils the garden hose will clean it out. be sure to clean out the drain holes so the water will drain outside like it should. one more thing besure the a/c is tilting down to the outside so the water wont leak in your house. have a good day you can do ths.

How do i fix and replace a freon leak?

If the leak is able to be seen and easy to get at you might want to take it where they replace parts for fridges and see if they can solder the holes. That's what repair people do when you have a Freon leak in a fridge.

The copper coil line got a litle hole in it,

After the hole was repaired; did the serviceman charge your system with Freon? This would need to be done as any leaks in a ac system will empty the charge in a short amount of time. window units usually have a very small Freon charge due to the small size.

I have a Goodman home A/C unit and the copper line coming into the house freezes up. The unit continues to run with no cold air. I was told it is either dirty or low on Freon. Are they correct? If it is...

Hello
If you have ice on bigger copper line and no cooling then the unit is low in freon.

As far as cleaning it,you should clean the outside condenser in the spring.Use some simple green and a hose to clean the coils, this will make it better for the heat to transfer to the outside and cut your costs of running the unit down.

No you can not do freon yourself you need to be cfc certified now, which means you can not buy freon.Best to have a service person come out.

I have a 15btu ac on my rv with a closed system how do i add freon

Only someone who has the tools, and is certified to work with refrigerants should do that. If your unit is not cooling, first check to make sure the air filter is not plugged up. (It is usually a foam washable filter, behind the air return grill, on the ceiling of your RV, directly below the A/C unit)

Ac blowing hot air

Sounds like you have a good sized leak in the system. The service man should be able to locate a leak that big. You might be able to locate it yourself. It's more than likely in the outside unit or indoor coil not in the lines that run between them. Look in the outdoor unit and look for any oily spots. The compressor has oil in it and it will show up where there is a leak. Look for any pipes that may be rubbing together as this will rub a hole in a line. Look at the indoor coil looking for the same indications. Hope this helps.

Air conditoner model gwhd5000 goldstar does not cool

Hi, first you will need to know, what type refrigerant,(freon) your a/c used, if you need to add freon, there's a leak in your a/c. you will have to find and repair leak, before you can charge/ add refrigerant(freon) . automobile a/c can be easily recharge (add) to system, but your window a/c unit, has the same principles but different approach, if you don't have experience, you will have to call mechanic, make sure you have a freon leak, before calling mechanic, plug a/c on let it work, put hands close to a/c, feel or check temperature of air blowing out from a/c, make sure compressor is working/running, fans could be working/ but compressor not, also put a/c thermostat to max, your model no. GWHD5000. means your unit is 5000 b.t.u, (british thermal unit) measurement of heat transfer, am wondering if a/c is to small for your space/room. making you think it needs freon, 5000. b.t.u. is for a small space, like a room 10' by 10' like a storage area or small bedroom, keep bedroom door/windows shut. measure you room/space/area , the bigger space/area needed to be cooled, has a chart, maybe you can find it on internet, any way a 10.000 or 12.000 b.t.u a/c is better buy, for normal room/space etc. so check compressor especially to make sure working, a/c could be to small for space/room, check it at night to see if it's colder. don't try to put gas/ freon yourself, could be very dangerous. but before calling mechanic, check those thing, mention before, could be your a/c are to small, for space/room etc. remember before attempting any repairs, disconnect power. good luck.

Goldstar GWDH 5000 does not cool after storing this winter

sounds like low freon or a blockage in one of the lines, especially since the you say only one row of coils is cool. usually window a/c's have at least a 1-year warranty and since you are pretty close to that, the manufacturer may honor it. if not you will need to have the system fitted with a bullet piercing valve on the low side lines and see if the unit is low on freon with proper gauges. if it is not showing low then there is probably a blockage and the high side should be checked as well. if this unit was an expensive one it could be worth having it repaired. a simple recharge may cost less than a replacement, but anything else probably won't.
